In Prep Gleeson, we have been learning about different 2D shapes and noticing whether they have curved edges or straight sides. Students have enjoyed hands-on activities, showing growth as they explored and created shapes using playdough and wool.
We have also become “shape detectives” in the classroom, searching for shapes in our everyday environment. We have been hunting for circles, triangles and rectangles. Through working together and sharing ideas, students are building connection and respect, while seeing how maths links to the world around them!

What a busy and exciting term it has been so far in 5 Lowry! 🌟
We’ve explored chemical science through jelly experiments, created charcoal artwork inspired by our novel Hatchet, and have loved creating rhetorical questions as part of our persuasive writing.
In Maths we have been learning about different types of measurement. We were challenged to estimate as close as possible to 1 litre of water, with the closest estimate coming in at 990mL!

POD C Assembly Week 4: It was wonderful to come together for our POD C Assembly in Week 4!
We proudly celebrated our Grade 4–6 students who received Value Certificates, recognising their outstanding demonstration of growth, courage, responsibility and respect. Your efforts and positive choices continue to inspire our school community—well done!
We also acknowledged the talented students whose creative artwork was selected as place getters for the Burnie Youth Council project, voted by their peers. What a fantastic showcase of creativity and student voice!
It’s been a joy to see the exceptional learning happening across all classes— from imaginative creative short stories, to deepening our understanding by connecting to culture through HASS, and building strong numeracy skills by mastering the order of operations using BIDMAS.
A big congratulations to all students for your hard work and enthusiasm for learning! 👏✨
