With winter quickly approaching, our local area is experiencing a rapid increase in dry conditions and fire fuel loads. As you plan to use outdoor fire pits for warmth and cooking, it is critical to prioritize safety by reviewing and strictly complying with current Queensland Fire Department regulations.
To ensure compliance and community safety, please note the following key guidelines:
• Open-air fires on private property must not exceed two meters in all directions to avoid requiring a specific permit.
• Fires must be positioned safely away from all flammable items.
• Always extinguish fires completely with water, rather than using sand.
• Be aware that all fires for warmth and cooking are generally prohibited during declared fire bans unless explicitly permitted by the Commissioner.
We urge all residents to review the full safety guidelines to ensure a safe fire season.
