Before the sun rises, we remember.
Our ranks have long been shaped by military service. Firefighters who served in the World Wars, and in the conflicts and humanitarian crises since. The skills, the discipline, and the Anzac spirit carry across. Many never returned. Their names, and their sacrifice, are part of who we are. It is a connection that runs between our service and theirs, and one that continues to this day.

Lest we forget.

Over the next few weeks you will see some new faces at 031 station Busby.
We have 4 new recruits starting, with all shifts receiving 1 freshly trained and eager firefighter. Their all ready to test their new skills, put the theory and practice into real life experiences.
'C' platoons new recruit started 3 weeks ago and has already had many new experiences, especially in the community engagement space. We attended the Sydney Royal Easter Show to spread the word about home fire safety, we have also been talking to home owners in the Lurnea area about home fire safety after a house fire over the weekend.
But last night Jack got to 'put some wet stuff on the hot stuff'.
A small bushfire just after midnight and a car fire a few hours later.
Welcome to the best job in the world Jack!

Monday 20th we had the pleasure to welcome an overseas firefighter to our station for a look around and a sit down at the messroom table, this is the heart of all fire stations and the place were all our stories are told.
Pablo Adrian Zรบรฑiga Vallade from 9th company Cuerpo de Bomberos Chile. Firefighters in Chile are volunteers and Pablo has over 30 years of experience and is Captain of his brigade. He came along with his brother in law, who has lived in Australia for many years. It was Pablo's first visit to Australia.
Even with the language barrier, we discovered that we speak the same language when it comes to emergencies.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday Pablo, travel safely home and more importantly stay safe when you return to your fire station duties.

Yesterday, Tim J worked his last shift at 31 Busby Fire Station after about 20 years serving the people of Busby and Green Valley surrounds.
Tim has taken a position at 95 Stn Oran Park, where he will continue studying to become a HAZMAT Technician on top of his regular firefighting duties.
Busby B Platoon will miss one of the most experienced firefighters at the Station, but we still have him within the MS3 Zone, working South West Sydney from Liverpool and MacArthur areas.
Good Luck Timmy, we will definitely see you at the โ€œBig Oneโ€.
