𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱

The City of Busselton Council has resolved at this time, not to support a proposal from the developer to permanently close sections of Northerly Street in Vasse, between Harlequin Boulevard and Yebble Drive.

In making its decision, the Council considered extensive community feedback received during the public advertising period from 12 December 2025 to 2 February 2026. More than 500 letters were distributed to residents and property owners in the Vasse locality, with two petitions and 121 submissions received, overwhelmingly opposing the proposed road closure.

𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀

The City of Busselton Council is inviting community feedback on proposed differential rates for the 2026/27 financial year, with the draft budget seeking to provide quality community services and facilities while balancing the impact on ratepayers.

The proposed budget includes an average rates increase of 7% for 2026/27, of which 1% contributes towards building the City’s financial reserves for future sport and recreation facilities across the district.

Community members are encouraged to review the proposal and provide feedback through the City’s engagement platform 👉 yoursay.busselton.wa.gov.au/2026-27-differential-rates.

Consultation closes at 4.30pm on 3 July 2026.

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻

Community safety is a key priority for our community, and a number of agencies have come together to take a coordinated approach.

The City of Busselton, in partnership with WA Police, the Department of Communities, St John WA, WA Country Health Service (WACHS) and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), is working collaboratively to develop a Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan. Edith Cowan University (ECU) has been engaged as an independent facilitator to support this work.

We want to understand which crime and community safety issues matter most to you.

To help set priorities and shape future actions, residents, workers and business owners across the City are invited to complete a short Community Safety Survey. Your feedback will help inform local strategies to improve safety and wellbeing for everyone.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 🔥🚧

The City has implemented a new Fire Access Track Maintenance Program to ensure tracks remain safe, accessible, and ready for emergency response. The program works include:

✅ Vegetation management (spraying and hand pruning)
✅ Gate inspections and maintenance
✅ Grading of tracks
✅ Inspection and identification of areas requiring additional maintenance and/or capital upgrades

This program is essential for supporting quick and safe access for emergency services, particularly during bushfire season.

It was a big weekend of wild weather! A huge thank you to our incredible SES volunteers and City staff who have been working tirelessly to respond to storm damage and keep our community safe. 🫶

We’ve received over 200 reports of fallen trees on local and regional roads, with some locations impacted by multiple trees.

We appreciate your patience as crews continue working their way across the network to clear debris and make roads safe.
