Today we celebrated the launch of ARC’s Mini Woolies! 🍏

Mini Woolies is a simulated supermarket designed to support people with disability to build confidence, independence and practical life skills through hands-on learning.

The space creates an environment where participants can develop skills in communication, customer service, literacy and numeracy while practicing real-world experiences. 🙌

A huge thank you to Woolworths for partnering with ARC to make this opportunity possible, and to everyone who joined us to celebrate the launch. 🎉

Cairns Regional Council is inviting people with disability, families, carers, support networks, and community members to share their experiences and ideas through the new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) survey.

Your feedback will help identify barriers people may face when accessing Council-managed places, spaces, services, events, and activities, and will help shape future priorities for a more accessible and inclusive Cairns.

Considering Residential Care 🗓 Friday 22nd September 2026

This session provides information about the process of considering and preparing for residential care. It's suitable for family carers and family members of people living with dementia. It's not open to paid carers, health, or aged care workers as professional development.

Meet Peggy! 🙋

We're excited to welcome 'Peggy' - our new training mannequin designed specifically for PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) and gastrostomy tube training.

Peggy provides a hands-on learning experience, helping our team visualise correct PEG tube positioning and safely practice the techniques involved in PEG care and management.

By incorporating Peggy into staff training, we're investing in hands-on learning and helping to build confidence and competency in PEG management for our staff - which means better outcomes for the people we support and the disability sector workforce. 🙌

Last month, the ARC Programs crew had the opportunity to cheer on Norman Eigl as he achieved 42km of burpee jumps under 197 hours - a new world record! 🏆

After eight gruelling days, Norman crossed the finish line at the 180 hour mark successfully completing 42.2km - the equivalent of 31,297 burpees!

Norman wasn't just taking on this challenge to push his own limits, he was doing it to raise awareness for men's mental health and to fundraise for Rosies - a local non-profit organisation that supports people experiencing homelessness and those doing it tough. 🧡

Congratulations to Norman on this remarkable achievement. 👏 It was amazing to celebrate it with you on the day!
