Cairns Young Labor is the youth wing of the Australian Labor Party in Cairns. All ALP members in the Cairns area aged under 26 are automatically members. Australian Young Labor is the peak youth body within the ALP. Young Labor plays an active role both in our party and in our broader community, by getting involved in issues that will affect our generation. Young Labor is particularly active in fe

deral, state and local government campaigns to make sure young people get a say in the way this country is run. Being involved in Young Labor gives young people the opportunity to make a real difference in your community. You’ll pick up a huge range of new skills and stories, with the opportunity to get involved in local, state and national campaigns. You’ll have a great time and meet a lot of of like-minded people in the process. I value the diverse perspectives of our young people and invite you to join us in creating dynamic and collaborative solutions to the issues that impact you now and into the future.

As a Cairns Youth Advisory Council member, you'll have the opportunity to advise on the best ways for the government to engage with young people, and to share your ideas and views on government policies, programs, and projects. Participating in the Council will also help you grow your leadership skills and your understanding of how government works.

This is a fantastic opportunity for local youth interested in government policy, community issues, and being a voice for their peers.

The Prime Minister has reached agreements with state and territory governments that will deliver guaranteed funding increases for public schools across the next decade.

That means more teachers, more one-on-one support for students who need extra help with literacy and numeracy and additional specialist support such as counsellors and speech pathologists.
