Cairns Young Labor is the youth wing of the Australian Labor Party in Cairns. All ALP members in the Cairns area aged under 26 are automatically members. Australian Young Labor is the peak youth body within the ALP. Young Labor plays an active role both in our party and in our broader community, by getting involved in issues that will affect our generation. Young Labor is particularly active in fe

deral, state and local government campaigns to make sure young people get a say in the way this country is run. Being involved in Young Labor gives young people the opportunity to make a real difference in your community. You’ll pick up a huge range of new skills and stories, with the opportunity to get involved in local, state and national campaigns. It was a great morning for Young Labour as we had a band of volunteers out in Bungalow.

We spent the morning spreading the good word about some of the ways the Albanese Labor Government is helping young people build, buy or rent through the following changes:

✅ 5% Deposit Scheme for eligible first-home buyers.
✅ Equalising the playing field with changes to Negative Gearing and the Capital Gains Tax
✅ $43 Billion Investment for the Housing Australia Future Fund
✅ Helping deliver 1.2 million new homes by the end of the decade as part of the National Housing Accord
✅ Partnering with the Queensland Government on 51,000 new homes.

As young people in the region, we welcome these changes as they give us hope for our future and make owning a home feel more achievable everyday.
