Our team recently had the privilege of participating in a Deep Listening On Country cultural learning experience, exploring First Nations history, culture, and the importance of meaningful reconciliation.

Through listening, reflection, and connection, we gained valuable insights that will help us continue building respectful relationships and inclusive communities.

National Reconciliation Week 2026

From 27 May to 3 June, we recognise National Reconciliation Week - a time to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to consider how we can all contribute to a more united future.

This year’s theme “All In” encourages each of us to take meaningful, everyday steps toward reconciliation - moving beyond words and into action.

At Access Community Housing, we’re committed to creating inclusive, respectful communities where everyone feels safe, valued, and connected. We acknowledge the importance of listening, learning, and walking together toward a stronger future.

Tomorrow, Cairns unites to say NO to domestic and family violence and YES to respectful relationships. 💜

Join us for the Walk n Talk Rally

📍 Meet near Muddy’s Playground and the Skate Park on the Cairns Esplanade.
🕠 Start walking at 5:30pm.
🚶 The walk concludes at Fogarty Park.

We suggest arriving a bit early to find parking before the event begins.

Wear Purple or your purple shirt if you have one
Shirts will also be available to buy

Together, we can break the silence around domestic and family violence and remind victims-survivors they’re not alone.

Our team recently had the opportunity to visit Douglas House (Mission Australia) and gain valuable insight into the incredible work being done to support people transitioning from homelessness.

It was inspiring to see the supportive spaces, community connection, and hands-on programs helping people build confidence and move toward long-term, sustainable housing.

A big thank you to Neil, Jeda, and the team for their time and for sharing their approach. We look forward to continuing to work together to support safe, secure homes for our community.
