Thanks to The Friends of the Caloundra Lighthouses for supporting The Big Dig, a Rotary project aimed at young children and their parents on Fathers Day Sept 6th
It's a pirate themed treasure hunt at Bulcock Beach
The photo of the Caloundra Lighthouse, courtesy Lyndon O'Grady from AMSA, the Australian Marine Safety Authority, was taken in the 1910s, and is the last image we have showing Bulcock's tower, constructed in the 1880s, to watch out for an expected Russian invasion. So, not much changes.
Fort Lytton, beside the Brisbane River was built to counter the same threat.
Of course, if it wasn't the Russians, the Americans and French were also sniffing around and we didn't much like them either
