Hi Guys. So everyone knows there is now a defibrillator in the Barton truck that lives at our station. There will be a list of phone numbers you can call I will put in the doorway entrance of people that live close and can open the station for you in an emergency. We got this on a grant and it makes the whole are safer as the next closest is at Epping forest 15 minutes away.

Saturday spent doing advanced bushfire training course. Learning map reading and strategy’s for controlling bushfires. All part of volunteering!

A reminder that fire season is not far away, a nasty local blaze in some tough country not far from our fire shed. Well done to all crews involved with some frantic work stopping the fire before it could make a run up the mountain. This will be a worry for the remainder of summer with large trees and roots having the potential to burn for months.

A bit of action at the station this month with rats chewing a hole in a water main in the roof and letting 5000L of water into the walls and carpet. Lucky for insurance 🤦‍♂️

Falling a lightning struck tree on the western tiers above the station last season with a couple of the TFS boys. Amazing to see the accuracy of where they can drop them.

Brigade spent the day blacking out and back burning with sustainable timber Tas at Fingal yesterday. When the fire pushes up hill it really goes!
