🌏 GREAT NEWS FOR CAMPBELL TOWN! 🇦🇺

We are delighted to announce that we have just signed a contract with an international tour company to welcome overseas visitors to The Church twice per week throughout the upcoming summer season.

Last season these tours visited us once per week. This season they have DOUBLED their visits, resulting in an incredible 41 tour group visits! 🎉

While guests enjoy a traditional three-course Aussie BBQ lunch at The Church, the benefits extend far beyond our gates. We proudly use Tasmanian meats and home-cooked food, supporting local suppliers and businesses. For example, we use kangaroo (for our homemade roo & beef rissoles) and sausage varieties from our local small town Butlers butchery.

Many guests also Explore Campbell Town while they are here, walking the Save the Convict Brick Trail, visiting local shops and learning about our history. Every visitor helps support local businesses, jobs and our community.

Each group receives a welcome talk and stories about us, The Church, Campbell Town and Tasmania's history before enjoying lunch, often outdoors in the sunshine and gardens.

One of the most rewarding parts is hearing the feedback. These are premium international tours, yet time and again guests and the tour guides, tell us it was the best meal of their entire trip and one of the most memorable experiences of their tour.

We don't pretend to be chefs or a luxury restaurant. We think what people enjoy most is that the experience is personal, genuine, homemade and uniquely Australian. They get to hear our family's story, local knowledge and enjoy a traditional Aussie BBQ in a genuine Tasmanian heritage setting. It's something quite different from what they experience elsewhere on their travels.

We love hosting these groups and sharing our town with people from around the world. We're thrilled to have secured this agreement for another season and look forward to continuing to showcase Campbell Town while helping our whole community benefit from their visit.

❤️ When visitors come to Campbell Town, we all benefit.

Ready for today’s and tomorrow’s food prep for Scottish Lunch at The Church – Sunday 21st June 2026 then business meetings during the week where this becomes a sandwich making and other food prep bar.

Why show it? Because I think if you eat here you have the right to see a bit of what goes on behind the scenes.

WHAT A STUFF UP! 🤦‍♀️

Yesterday on my personal page I shared a photo of a batch of lasagnes that ended up in the bin after being accidentally left in the oven overnight.

What surprised me was how many people thought they would still be safe to eat.

I thought I'd explain why they weren't.

The first photo shows a freshly cooked and browned batch ready to go out to customers😋 The second photo shows, my personal facebook post, and the 2nd batch of lasagnes after they had been fully cooked but before being browned.

These were cooked through but not browned, as they were intended to be refrigerated overnight and then finished off for the next day's orders.

Unfortunately, after the timer went off, I turned the oven off and completely forgot about them.🤯

The lasagnes then sat in a warm oven, overnight, for approximately 12 hours while the oven slowly cooled down.

The problem is that cooked food should not remain in the food safety danger zone (between 5°C and 60°C) for extended periods. This is the temperature range where bacteria can multiply rapidly.

Food safety guidelines generally recommend:

• Less than 2 hours in the danger zone – generally safe to refrigerate and use later.
• Between 2 and 4 hours – use immediately.
• More than 4 hours – throw it out.

These lasagnes spent many hours in that danger zone while the oven slowly cooled.

Many people assume that because food has been cooked it must still be safe. Unfortunately, bacteria can grow after cooking if food is left at unsafe temperatures. Some bacteria can also produce toxins that are not destroyed by reheating.

‼️ALSO IMPORTANT with ALL food we prepare: As a business owner & cook, I don't know who I am feeding. It could be an elderly person, a young child, someone going through cancer treatment, someone who is pregnant, or someone with a compromised immune system...anything that makes them more vulnerable.

I have completed both Food Safety and Food Safety Supervisor training, and I will always choose the SAFEST option.

At The Church, I have always worked on a simple principle:
"I will never serve food to a customer that I wouldn't happily serve to my own family/loved ones."

So yes, an entire oven load of lasagnes went into the bin and I had to rush around making another batch.

It was frustrating, time-consuming and expensive, but it was absolutely the right decision.✅

Moral of the story: If you accidentally leave cooked food sitting in a turned-off oven overnight, throw it out. It simply isn't worth risking your family's health or someone else's.

WHEN IN DOUBT – THROW IT OUT!

Food can be replaced. People's health can't.

📍LOCALS – a few updates about our takeaway menu 🍝🍗🍕

As many of you know, evening meal options in Campbell Town and the surrounding area are quite limited. We're doing our best to offer our homemade pizzas, chicken wings and lasagnes as often as possible.

However, The Church's primary focus remains our meetings, events, weddings, tours and functions, so these bookings will always take priority when scheduling takeaway nights.

A few updates and reminders:

✅ We have added Nichols Tasmanian Chicken WINGS with 3 homemade dipping sauces.

✅ We now offer homemade LASAGNE in two sizes.

✅ Delivery is available within the Campbell Town township only for $10 per delivery and between 6pm and 7pm.

✅ Friday nights are by far our busiest night. We often need to stop taking orders to maintain quality and service. If possible, we encourage customers to order on other nights or consider pickup times outside the 6pm rush.

✅ All orders must be via TEXT to 0401 788 880. The earlier you send your order through, the better, as we can reach capacity or sell out.
📲Why text? Because we want to get it right, it’s easier to manage, we are often crazy busy, handling food and unable to answer the phone and we can text you back pre-saved order confirmations and updates.

✅ We are a small family business operating from an approved kitchen at our home (until we can afford to build a separate commercial kitchen). While we have commercial equipment and all required food safety certifications, we are not a large commercial operation. Occasionally we need to close orders early so we can focus on preparing the food already ordered to the standard our customers expect.

One thing that is very important to us is quality and supporting Tasmania wherever possible.

Our pizza bases are fresh, rustic, locally bakery-made and delivered daily. They cost us more, but we believe the quality is worth it.

We also choose Tasmanian ingredients wherever possible. Our ham, bacon, chicken, pepperoni and many other ingredients are sourced from Tasmanian producers and suppliers because supporting local businesses matters to us.

Just as importantly, we don't cut corners.

We make things from scratch. It would certainly be easier and cheaper to use frozen products or highly processed commercial foods, but that's not how we want to do things.

Thank you for supporting our small family business. Every order helps us support Tasmanian producers, local suppliers and our community.

If you ever have any feedback, suggestions or special requests, please let us know. We are always learning and always trying to improve.

Please see the menu attached, which includes our current prices. For now, as we will need to increase them slightly soon.

To find out which nights takeaway is available, keep an eye on the Campbell Town Tasmania Community Sales & Information page or simply send us a text.

Thank you again for your support, it's been incredible, overwhelming and much appreciated! 🥰

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Do you know about CAMPBELL TOWN'S SCOTTISH HERITAGE & Influence?

Tasmania’s Midlands - Discover the Heritage Highway | Visit Northern Tasmania | Tourism Industry Council Tasmania | Tasmanian

Did you know that Campbell Town has one of the strongest Scottish connections of any town in Tasmania?

This Sunday, visitors have the opportunity to experience a unique event that celebrates the people, traditions and culture that helped shape our town and district.

Hosted at The Church Campbell Town Tasmania, guests will be welcomed by the stirring sound of the bagpipes before enjoying a traditional Scottish buffet lunch in one of Campbell Town's most historic buildings.

But this event is about far more than food.

Campbell Town's Scottish connection runs deep.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The town was named in 1821 by Governor Lachlan Macquarie after his wife, Elizabeth Campbell.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Throughout the 1800s, many Scottish families travelled to Van Diemen's Land seeking opportunity through land grant schemes and agricultural development.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 These settlers played a major role in establishing the farms, businesses, churches and communities that helped shape the Northern Midlands.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Many local families can trace their ancestry back eight generations to those original Scottish settlers, with descendants still living in the district today.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The former St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, now known as The Church, was built in 1857 to serve Campbell Town's growing Scottish Presbyterian community and remains one of the town's most significant reminders of that heritage.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scottish influence can still be seen today in local family names, farming traditions, historic buildings, place names and community history throughout the region.

Visitors attending this Sunday's event can enjoy:

🎵 Traditional bagpipe performances
🥣 Scottish soups, mains and desserts
☕ Unlimited tea, coffee, iced water and fruit punch
🥃 BYO drinks welcome
⛪ The opportunity to experience one of Campbell Town's most historic buildings

Whether you have Scottish ancestry or simply enjoy learning about Tasmania's rich history, or just want to try something different, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate an important part of Campbell Town's story.
