On Friday 26 June 2026, Department of Primary Industries and Regions will be undertaking an inspection at Thorndon Park as part of its proactive surveillance program (weather permitting). As part of this work, scent-trained detector dogs will move through the park as a precautionary measure to support early detection of Giant Pine Scale.

Thorndon Park has been identified as a priority site due to its large pine trees and the significant community value of the reserve. This surveillance is precautionary, and there have been no reports of Giant Pine Scale at the park.

The work will involve two trained handlers and two detector dogs moving through the park’s pine tree areas. The dogs will remain on leash at all times, handlers will wear high-visibility clothing, and all waste will be collected.

A friendly reminder that dogs are not permitted in Thorndon Park at any time. However, Council has granted permission for the dogs to be in Thorndon Park for this purpose.

💬 Help shape the future of housing in Campbelltown

The City of Campbelltown is a popular place to live, visit, work, play and study. Our City is growing and changing, and many people want to call Campbelltown home through life’s different stages.

The popularity of our council area places pressure on housing availability and affordability. At the same time household needs are changing, and some communities are experiencing the impacts of new housing in existing neighbourhoods.

To help navigate these challenges, Council has prepared a draft Local Housing Strategy based on four key goals.

1. Improved Housing Affordability
2. Liveable and climate-ready housing
3. Housing for All Ages and Abilities
4. The Right Housing, in the Right Places

We are now seeking community feedback about what matters most to you and what you would support before the Strategy is finalised.

To get involved and have your say:

▪️Complete a survey online via https://brnw.ch/21x3CU8 or in hard copy (available from the Library or Council’s Office).
▪️Attend the Community Briefing on Thursday 16 July 2026, from 4:30 pm to 5 pm at the Campbelltown City Council office.
▪️Attend the virtual Community Briefing on Thursday 16 July 2026, at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

For catering purposes, please let us know by Friday 10 July if you plan to attend the in person Community Briefing at [email protected] or 08 8366 9222.

Consultation closes at 9 am, Monday 3 August 2026.

Council is proud to support an ongoing 18-month traineeship for a local person with disability through our Employment Diversity Program.

Our most recent trainee, Lauren, began her career with Council in our Finance department, supporting the Rates team. Throughout her traineeship, she has developed valuable, transferable skills that will open doors to many future career opportunities.

A big thank you to Lauren for her dedication, hard work, and the important contribution she has made to our team. Your commitment has helped us continue delivering great service to our community.

There are more opportunities to get involved. Whether you're a seasoned planter or giving it a go for the first time, we'd love to see you at a future event.

Join us as we continue to grow habitat for native wildlife, improve our local environment and help create a cooler, greener Campbelltown.

We’re committed to building a cleaner, more sustainable future for our Community. That’s why we’re trialling innovative solutions that improve our infrastructure, while protecting the environment. From recycled plastic stormwater pipes to plant-based road treatments, new approaches are being tested to reduce emissions, extend asset life, minimise disruption for residents, and support a circular economy.

These initiatives are already delivering promising results in Tranmere, Magill and Newton, helping address flooding and extending the life of our roads.
