Two AFP officers have been recognised for their dedicated service to the Australian community in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours.
Assistant Commissioner Stephen Nutt and Superintendent Alexander Middlemiss have both been awarded the Australian Police Medal (APM) in recognition of their service.
Assistant Commissioner Nutt has been recognised for his distinguished service to counter terrorism, intelligence, domestic and international policing.
Throughout his 32-year career in policing, AC Nutt has shaped the national counter-terrorism strategy, overseeing major operational responses, and strengthening Australia’s protective security.
Superintendent Middlemiss has been honoured for his service to community policing, tactical response, undercover operations, dignitary protection and international policing.
Serving for more than 20 years, his experience has extended to managing operational capability and policing partnerships, along with leading some of the AFP’s most physically and mentally-demanding roles, including the emergency response to humanitarian crises.
Please join us in congratulating them on their awards.
