As we welcome the first day of spring, we also welcome Biodiversity Month.

Each week in September, we’ll showcase the different ways our schemes help to protect and care for Australian biodiversity.

The soil carbon method from the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Scheme positively contributes to biodiversity by supporting carbon storage in agricultural soils.

Hear from farmers in Queensland about what’s involved in increasing soil carbon levels and the benefits they’ve experienced.

As Australia tracks towards our emissions reduction goals, it’s essential that responsible emitters are meeting their reporting obligations.

As part of our compliance and enforcement priorities 2026–27, businesses covered by the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGER) and the Safeguard Mechanism must submit complete and accurate information on time.

This ensures we're using accurate data to monitor emissions and energy consumption.
By taking enforcement action on non-compliance, we're protecting the integrity of the scheme.

Today marks the start of Landcare Week and we’re recognising the people and projects helping restore Australia's landscapes.

Environmental markets are supporting action on the ground across Australia. They’re helping landholders restore native vegetation, improve biodiversity and store carbon for the long term.

There are more than 2,500 projects registered under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme, with vegetation and agriculture projects continuing to grow.

The Nature Repair Market is also gaining momentum. Australia's first biodiversity project at Cooplacurripa (pictured) aims to restore 438 hectares, while the second registered project in Doon Doon, NSW, is restoring 19.9 hectares near Nightcap National Park.

Could your property or organisation support biodiversity, regeneration or soil carbon activities?

What does nature repair look like in practice? At Cooplacurripa Station, NSW, the first project registered under the Nature Repair Market is underway. 🌱

The project is helping restore native forest and woodland ecosystems while demonstrating how biodiversity and carbon outcomes can be delivered together.

We have released our quarterly compliance update for April to June 2026.

The update highlights the work we're doing to protect the integrity of the schemes we administer.

This quarter we focused on:

• ensuring rooftop solar and battery retailers and installers met their obligations
• strengthening ACCU Scheme audit quality
• supporting compliance with upcoming NGER reporting obligations
• increasing scrutiny where reporting or evidence didn’t meet our expectations.

Our message remains clear: we are actively monitoring and enforcing compliance obligations. False statements, incomplete work and other forms of non-compliance have consequences.
