🌟 Celebrating National Volunteer Week 🌟
On Saturday 9 May, we were proud to host our Volunteer Recognition Event, honouring those who have given 10+ years of service to the RNCAS attended by Andrew Barr ACT Chief Minister. We were especially pleased to welcome partners—so often the quiet force behind every volunteer, and frequently roped in themselves.
Across the year, more than 600 volunteers support the work of the RNCAS, with another 200 stepping in during Show time to help deliver the events our community loves. Their contributions are as diverse as they are essential.
Our volunteers take on responsibilities that go far beyond a single shift. They meet with sponsors and partners, lead committees, coordinate exhibitors and suppliers, set up and pack down events, run BBQs, support office operations, and help ensure every competition and show runs smoothly. Many move seamlessly between events, stepping in wherever they’re needed most.
We are also fortunate to have former staff who continue to share their expertise as volunteers—an extraordinary gift of continuity, knowledge and heart.
From Councillors and Board Members to Committee Members, Section Heads, Chairs, Stewards, and office helpers, every volunteer shares one powerful thing in common: a commitment to the greater good of our mission—to champion agriculture, viticulture and horticulture, and to sustain the RNCAS for generations to come.
To every volunteer: thank you. We simply couldn’t do it without you.
