https://linktr.ee/canberracoop The Canberra Student Housing Co-operative is a group of students commited to providing secure, affordable, quality housing for students in Canberra, based on a co-operative model. We are motivated by the current rental crisis in Canberra, and believe that students can be part of the solution. We formed to create this solution, believing that a place to live while stu

dying can be much more than a crash pad. We seek to create a home that fosters opportunity for personal expression and shared learning, a home where people share responsibility and can learn from and support each other. We operate 5 units in Havelock House in association with the Havelock Housing Association and Community Housing ACT. The first unit opened in October 2011, the second in February 2012, and the third and fourth in July 2012. We got a fifth unit in April 2013! We are commited to further expansion in consultation with government and other not-for-profit organisations. The Co-operative is governed by its primary members, consisting of the residents and several non-residential directors. Semester 2, 2025 applications for the Canberra Student Housing Cooperative (CSHC) are open now!

Are you; anti-racist, q***r friendly, community oriented, ready to fight for housing rights, AND in financial need? We want you!

We’re currently looking for new housemates to join our friendly student-run community at the Canberra Student Housing Co-op (CSHC)!

Women, Fems and Non-binary people will be prioritised. Open to all students worldwide, including the study of diplomas, degrees, apprenticeships, etc. You must be 18 or older to apply.

Who are we? Founded in 2010, the CSHC offers affordable, secure housing for students at Havelock House. It’s a community built on cooperation, shared responsibility, and mutual support. We continue a legacy of student activism, creating a home that fosters learning, personal expression, and collective living. In a central location (just a 10-minute walk to Canberra Civic Center and 3 min walk to Eloura St Light Rail)

At CSHC, we all share the responsibility of keeping things running (cleaning, cooking, planning events, etc.), and it’s a great way to build real-life skills while making new friends and memories.

What to expect at CSHC!

1. Affordable rent (from $373.10/fortnight, bills included)

2. We’re a community made up of 5 housing units

3. Weekly compulsory co-op meetings

4. Minimum of 3 hours per week contribution

5. Kitty paid monthly ($60)

6. An 8-hour planning day twice a year

7. Training up newer coopers

8. Shared dinners, chill hangouts, movie nights, gardening days & more!
