On 17 August 2026, The Embassy of the Republic of Palau in Australia was pleased to pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency Samuelu Laloniu, High Commissioner of Tuvalu to Australia, in Canberra.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between Palau and Tuvalu as fellow Pacific Island nations. Our discussions reflected our shared commitment to regional cooperation, stronger Pacific partnerships, and advancing the interests and well-being of our peoples.

Palau and Tuvalu share more than the vast Pacific Ocean that connects us. We share strong island values, close cultural ties, common challenges, and a responsibility to ensure that the voices and priorities of Pacific Island nations continue to be heard and respected.

The Embassy of the Republic of Palau looks forward to working closely with High Commissioner Laloniu and the Tuvalu High Commission to deepen the friendship between our two nations and advance our shared interests in Australia and throughout our Blue Pacific region.

Mesulang and Fakafetai to High Commissioner Laloniu for the warm welcome and meaningful exchange.

Wednesday, 12 August 2026 - Our Embassy was honoured to welcome our first local office guest and visitor, Her Excellency Ms Jane J. Chigiyal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federated States of Micronesia to the Commonwealth of Australia.

Her Excellency kindly arranged a courtesy call and hosted a lunch with His Excellency Ambassador Roland Merar and First Secretary Hadden Seklii. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet, exchange greetings, and further strengthen the close and enduring ties between our two Pacific Island Nations.

As we continue establishing the Embassy of the Republic of Palau in Canberra, we are especially pleased that Her Excellency was our first local diplomatic visitor and that our very first courtesy engagement was with our sister Pacific Island Nation of the Federated States of Micronesia.
