Our Transport Officers are at the heart of our network, and their impact reaches far beyond what most people see.

Every day, they’re out and about in the early mornings and late nights helping passengers find their way, answering questions, and keeping information clear and up to date across Canberra.

A lot of their work also happens behind the scenes. When unexpected events like road closures happen, they make sure that the required bus diversion is tested in real time. They factor in traffic conditions and compare different scenarios to map out the most efficient route, helping keep disruption to a minimum and travel times as short as possible for our passengers.

They stay closely connected with drivers and the communications team, quickly responding to what’s happening on the ground, keeping customers informed in all weather and helping manage emergencies, breakdowns and special events.

Reliable, dedicated and always ready to lend a hand, our Transport Officers quietly make a difference every day!

We’re incredibly grateful for all that they do to support our community and to keep Canberra moving. If you see them in the community, a friendly nod, a smile or a quick hello can really make their day!

Please be kind to our wonderful TOs.

This June is Pride Month, and at Transport Canberra we acknowledge and celebrate out LGBTQIA+ community 🌈

Sometimes it’s not what’s said out loud that matters most. A look, a gesture or a moment of inclusion say’s a lot.

We’re committed to creating a transport network where everyone feels safe, welcome and respected, every day.

Because small actions, seen or unseen, help build a more inclusive Canberra.

Hey concession holders, we have some important reminders for you!

📢Seniors, your concession has a 3-year expiry, so no action is required. If you’re already using a MyWay+ travel card, you can continue travelling as usual. ✅

If you’re still holding the old combined ACT Seniors/TC MyWay card, please note that it no longer works on public transport but keep it as the proof of concession and to continue accessing other benefits.

⚠️ For all MyWay+ concession holders (except seniors), your concession will expire on 30 June 2026.

This applies to DVA Gold card holders, Health Care Card and Pension card holders, Digital Concession card holders, Companion card holders, ACT Services Access card holders, People with a Permanent Impairment ID card and all students.

If your concession expires and your card is not registered, your fare will automatically revert to a full adult fare. You are encouraged to take action early to avoid paying a full adult fare.

👉A MyWay+ account puts you in control of your travel. It’s the best way to save money, protect your existing balance, manage your travel and account details and continue receiving concession fares. Register for a MyWay+ account today!

National Road Safety Week may be coming to an end, but road safety is something we all need to practise every day.

Whether you’re driving, riding, walking, rolling or scooting, staying alert can make all the difference.

Remember to:

👀 Avoid distractions and keep your focus
🚌 Give buses extra space and never overtake when passengers may be crossing
🚸 Slow down and be patient near crossings, schools and bus stops
🚴 Watch for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users
⌚ Leave earlier so you’re not tempted to rush

A little patience and attention can help everyone get home safely.

Reminder for families and students travelling to school tomorrow, Friday 22 May.

Due to protected industrial action, ACT public schools will be closed from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. There will be no onsite supervision available for students during this time. The school day will begin at 10.30 am.

Transport Canberra school bus services will continue to operate to their normal weekday timetable, including dedicated school services. The exception is Supported School Transport services for specialist schools and eligible students. For safety, the morning service will be cancelled due to no onsite supervision being available for these students. Families and carers of students who use these services can call the Supported School Transport team for any enquiries.

Families are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternative travel arrangements or use regular bus services to arrive closer to the revised school start time.

With fuel costs rising and household budgets under pressure, many Canberrans are looking for ways to spend less getting around.

Don’t forget the reduced monthly fare caps are still in place to support the cost of living. Now is the perfect time to use public transport.

Once you reach the cap, bus and light rail travel is free for the rest of the month. Just make sure to tap on and off using the same payment method throughout the month.

To make things even easier, set up a MyWay+ account so you can track and manage your travel, fares, concessions and more all in one place. No matter which method you use, all trips are recorded in your account, and you can easily track when the fare caps are reached. For each trip, you still need to use the same payment method.

A MyWay+ account gives you access to a range of benefits, read more about MyWay+: www.transport.act.gov.au/news/news-and-events-items/may-2026/register-for-a-myway-account-to-enjoy-more-benefits
