Getting around on an e-bike or e-scooter is a quick and convenient way to get to class, work or catch up with friends. But wherever you're headed, make safety part of the journey. 🛴🚲

Wear a helmet. It could save you from serious injury.

Campus pathways, town centres and transport hubs can be busy places. Ride at a safe speed and watch for pedestrians and other road users.

Park responsibly so footpaths, roads and building entrances remain accessible for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who voted in our 2026 Rail Safety Poster People's Choice Award.

We're excited to announce that ‘Don't Be a Quack. Stay Off the Track’ has been voted the People's Choice winner for 2026!🚊

This fun and memorable design captured the community's attention while delivering an important safety message: tracks are for trams, not shortcuts. Whether you're walking, riding, driving or catching light rail, staying alert around tracks and only crossing at designated crossing points helps keep everyone safe.

As we wrap up this year's campaign, we'd like to thank everyone who engaged with our rail safety messages and helped spread awareness across the Canberra community.

Rail safety is everyone's responsibility. By making safe choices around the light rail network, we can all do our part to prevent incidents and ensure everyone gets to their destination safely.

🌳🚊 Ever wondered what the future Light Rail corridor will look like?

Explore the new Light Rail Tree Plantings Map and discover where more than 140 new trees will be planted between Alinga Street and Commonwealth Park as part of the Light Rail Stage 2A extension.

More than 140 new trees will be planted as part of the Light Rail Stage 2A extension from Alinga Street to Commonwealth Park.

Canberrans can now access a new Light Rail Stage 2A Tree Plantings Map, which provides an interactive guide to the urban treescape planned for the city, including the location of new trees, the species selected and the environmental benefits they will bring.

The new plantings feature a mix of deciduous and evergreen species that will complement existing trees along Northbourne Avenue, London Circuit and Commonwealth Avenue, including Himalayan Cedars and Pin Oaks.

Planting has already commenced on parts of the alignment, with new trees in position outside the Sydney and Melbourne Buildings. Further planting is scheduled for later stages of the construction program to give the trees the best start possible.

From diesel buses to battery-electric technology and light rail, public transport in Canberra has continued to evolve.

In 2021, Transport Canberra introduced its first battery electric buses as part of the ACT Government's transition towards a zero-emission public transport fleet.

The technology may have changed, but our purpose remains the same helping connect Canberrans to what matters most.

🏉 Heading to Manuka Oval this Sunday for the AFLW Giants v Port Adelaide game? Take public transport (for free) and leave the driving to us.

🎫 If you're heading to the game, you can travel free all day on public transport by presenting your event ticket or membership.

🚌 The R6 connects Belconnen, the City and Woden via Manuka Oval, with the nearest stops located on Giles Street, Captain Cook Crescent and Cooyong Street in the City.

💚Looking for another way to get there? Lime e-scooters and e-bikes are a convenient option for travelling to and from the game 🛴

✅ Update: All roads have now reopened and bus services have returned to normal operations.

Update as of 10 am:

Route 21 is operating through Palmerston as usual. Minor delays and diversions are expected but no stops will be missed.

Route 22 is still not operating Palmerston. Transport Officers are onsite assisting customers with shuttle services into Gungahlin.

⚠️Due to an incident on Gungahlin Drive, Franklin, Gungahlin Drive is closed in both directions.

Bus impacts:
⛔Routes 21 and 22 currently not servicing Palmerston to Gungahlin.
🦺Transport Officers are on site in Palmerston assisting customers with shuttle services.
✏️School services are operating with no stops missed, minor delays are expected.

Road closures and impacts:
⛔Gungahlin Drive is closed in both directions between Well Station Drive and Kosciusko Avenue.
