It was a pleasure to welcome Dr Edwin Joseph JP, President of the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory, to the Kenya High Commission in Canberra.

Our conversation went beyond institutional engagement and reflected on the strength that diverse communities bring to Australia, and the important role diplomacy can play in connecting people, cultures and opportunities.

For Kenya, our relationship with Australia is strengthened not only through government-to-government cooperation, but also through the everyday contributions of our diaspora and the many multicultural communities that continue to enrich Australian society.

I shared with Dr Joseph my commitment to ensuring that the High Commission remains accessible, outward-looking and closely connected to organisations that promote inclusion, community participation and stronger people-to-people ties.

I appreciate his leadership and friendship, and look forward to building practical partnerships that bring our communities even closer.

It was a great pleasure to welcome students from The Kenya High School and Nairobi School to the Kenya High Commission in Canberra as part of their educational tour of Australia.

I was particularly encouraged by the confidence, curiosity and depth of thought demonstrated by these young Kenyans during our engagement. Our discussions explored diplomacy, Kenya–Australia relations, the role of Kenya’s missions abroad, leadership, education and the responsibility that comes with representing our country on the global stage.

Seeing these students thousands of kilometres from home, broadening their horizons and engaging meaningfully with the world, is a powerful reminder of what is possible when young people are given opportunities, guided well and encouraged to dream beyond their immediate surroundings.

To all Kenyan students preparing to sit their national examinations this year, I encourage you to remain focused, disciplined and confident in your abilities. The examination before you is an important milestone, but beyond it lies an even greater world of opportunity. Study diligently, believe in yourselves and approach the future with courage. The classrooms you occupy today can open doors to universities, professions, leadership and opportunities across Kenya and around the world.

Your background should never limit the size of your dreams. Kenya is counting on your ideas, your character and your determination. You are not merely preparing for examinations; you are preparing to take your place in building the Kenya of tomorrow.

I commend the teachers, parents and institutions that continue to invest in our young people and expose them to experiences that broaden their outlook and strengthen their confidence.

To the students of The Kenya High School and Nairobi School, carry the Kenyan flag proudly, make the most of this experience, and return home inspired to serve, lead and make a difference.

The future of Kenya is bright because its young people are ambitious, capable and increasingly ready for the world.

I warmly commend the faithful of the Africa Inland Church (AIC) for convening the Nandi West Regional Thanksgiving Service at AIC Baraton Local Church in Chesumei, Nandi County.

The service, graced by the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei, and spiritually guided through the sermon delivered by Bishop Benjamin Tarus of the Kitale Area Church Council, was a powerful reminder of the importance of gratitude, unity and steadfast faith in the life of our nation.

Faith institutions remain invaluable partners in nurturing moral leadership, strengthening families and promoting peace and cohesion within our communities. May the spirit of thanksgiving continue to inspire us to serve God and humanity with humility, integrity and compassion.

As the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. A. Korir Sing’oei, concludes his highly productive official visit to Australia, I am pleased to reflect on a series of engagements that have further strengthened the warm and enduring partnership between Kenya and Australia.

The visit provided valuable opportunities to engage the Australian Government, Parliament, business community, academic institutions, the African diplomatic corps and the Kenyan diaspora. Discussions advanced our shared interests across trade and investment, education, tourism, renewable energy, agriculture, international security, parliamentary diplomacy, refugee inclusion and multilateral cooperation.

The Principal Secretary also presented Kenya’s candidatures for judicial positions at the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to international law, justice and a rules-based global order.

His visit concluded with a compelling lecture at Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on “Reforming the International Financial Architecture and the Future of Development Cooperation.” He challenged outdated narratives that portray Africa merely through the lens of need, affirming instead a continent rich in ideas, resources, innovation and opportunity—ready to build meaningful partnerships with countries that recognise its strategic value and invest in its future.

This visit has generated renewed momentum for stronger institutional cooperation, expanded commercial partnerships, deeper educational linkages and greater engagement with our diaspora.

On behalf of the Kenya High Commission in Canberra, I thank Dr. Sing’oei for his leadership and for representing Kenya’s interests with clarity, confidence and distinction. I also extend our sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Australia, our diplomatic partners and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the visit.

As he departs for home, we bid him a safe journey and look forward to translating the outcomes of this important visit into tangible benefits for the people of Kenya and Australia.

I was honoured to join the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. A. Korir Sing’oei, for a productive luncheon engagement with senior officials of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

We held constructive discussions with Dr. Fiona Webster, Secretary of the International Security, Legal and Consular Group; Dr. Ralph King, First Assistant Secretary of the Middle East and Africa Division; Ms. Gemma Huggins, Australia’s Ambassador for Counter-Terrorism; and Ms. Jane Duke, Ambassador for Countering Modern Slavery, People Smuggling and Human Trafficking.

Our engagement reaffirmed the strong partnership between Kenya and Australia and our shared commitment to strengthening cooperation on international security, counter-terrorism, transnational crime, human trafficking, people smuggling and the protection of vulnerable persons.

Kenya remains committed to working closely with Australia and other international partners in advancing peace, security, justice and a rules-based international order.

I was pleased to accompany the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. A. Korir Sing’oei, on a visit to Parliament House in Canberra, the seat of Australia’s Federal Parliament.

Parliamentary diplomacy remains an important pillar of Kenya’s foreign policy and a valuable avenue for strengthening bilateral relations, promoting dialogue and advancing shared national interests.

Kenya and Australia enjoy strong parliamentary ties founded on our common Commonwealth heritage, democratic values and commitment to a rules-based international order. It was my distinct honour to host the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. A. Korir Sing’oei, at a reception in Canberra attended by distinguished members of the African diplomatic corps, representatives of Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and other valued partners and friends of Kenya.

The occasion offered an important opportunity to engage our diplomatic partners on the need for stronger international solidarity in safeguarding a rules-based global order, founded on justice, cooperation and respect for international law.

It was an honour to host the Principal Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, at the Kenya High Commission in Canberra.

Over a warm cup of Kenyan masala tea on a chilly Canberra morning, we held meaningful discussions with our dedicated Mission team on strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic, economic and people-to-people engagements across Australia, New Zealand and the seven Pacific jurisdictions under our accreditation.

We reflected on the strong foundations of the Kenya–Australia partnership, particularly in education, tourism and diaspora engagement. With more than 10,000 Kenyan students studying in Australia and approximately 27,000 Australian visitors travelling to Kenya in 2024, there is considerable potential to deepen these important connections.

I appreciate the Principal Secretary’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of our Mission and supporting our efforts to advance Kenya’s interests, serve our diaspora and unlock new opportunities across the region.

We remain committed to building stronger partnerships and ensuring that Kenya’s presence in Australia and the Pacific continues to deliver meaningful benefits for our people.

I was pleased to accompany the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. A. Korir Sing’Oei, during a visit to the University of Technology Sydney, where we engaged the University’s leadership and interacted with Kenyan students pursuing their studies in Australia.

In his remarks, the Principal Secretary highlighted Kenya’s commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships that support the country’s education, research, innovation and skills development priorities. He welcomed the proposed establishment of a structured institutional partnership focused on joint research, innovation and expanded student mobility pathways between Kenya and Australia.

I reaffirmed the Kenya High Commission’s commitment to supporting stronger linkages between Kenyan and Australian institutions of higher learning. Such partnerships are essential in creating opportunities for our students, strengthening knowledge exchange and ensuring that academic collaboration contributes meaningfully to Kenya’s national development agenda.

It was equally encouraging to engage with the Kenyan students, whose academic achievements and conduct continue to represent our country with distinction. We remain committed to supporting their welfare and ensuring that their knowledge and experience contribute to Kenya’s transformation.
