In the first three days of the disposal window, multinational teams have destroyed 330 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and a further nine munitions rendered safe in 📍 East New Britain on Operation Render Safe.

ADF personnel are working alongside the Papua New Guinea Defence Force and partner nations to remove explosive hazards found during earlier reconnaissance. This vital work reduces the ongoing risks that these historic weapons pose to local communities more than 80 years after the Pacific campaign.

Operation Render Safe is the Australian Defence Force-led mission to locate and dispose of World War II explosive remnants across the Indo-Pacific.
