The ANU remains complicit in genocide, apartheid and war on Iran. In 2025, ANU bought hundreds of thousands of dollars in shares in Elbit Systems and Thales, both of which make Israeli drones. Israeli drones have continued to strike Gaza as recently as March 2026. Through the iLAunCH programme, ANU is partnering with Northrop Grumman to build sensory systems that detect hypersonic missiles, all while Northrop Grumman builds parts for the F-35 fighter jets bombing Gaza and Iran. The ASD-ANU Co-Lab allows the Australian Signals Directorate to engage in research and recruiting on ANU campus, all while ASD personnel are involved in US spy base Pine Gap. Pine Gap collects US intelligence on the Middle East, and US intelligence has been used by Israel in its genocide in Gaza and for strikes on Iran.

Two years ago, the ANU Gaza Encampment showed that mass pressure from below can force ANU to cut some of its ties to Israel. After hundreds rallied and defied police attempts to break up the encampment, the university on the next day announced changes to its socially responsible investment policy. During the ANU Gaza Encampment, the ANU quietly stopped advertising its exchange programme with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which trains officers for the Israeli security services. And thousands petitioned against the expulsion of a pro-Palestine activist who defended the right of Palestinians to resist on ABC radio, successfully pressuring the university to rescind the expulsion.

Australia’s new iLAunCH Trailblazer space engineering program deepens ANU’s ties to Northrop Grumman - a company which produces radar and technologies for F-35 fighter jets, used by Israel in attacks on Palestine.
The iLAunCH program involves a Hypersonic Missile Early Warning project, where ANU, UniSQ, AU and Northrop Grumman collaborate to build a small-satellite system to detect hypersonic vehicles.
Just as Northrop Grumman’s F35 parts have emboldened Israel’s air force to destroy Gaza’s buildings, the iLAunCH Trailblazer program could involve ANU research being commercialised by Northrop Grumman to make future wars more destructive.
Northrup Grumman is also producing weapons for the US used to attack Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran has been using hypersonic missiles to circumvent Israel’s air defence systems.
Australia’s investment in hypersonic detection systems is no coincidence: it suggests that Australia is preparing for war in our own region.
ANU is also continuing ongoing projects with Electro Optic Systems (a weapons producer); and continues to partner with the Aus government to train people for AUKUS. It is clear that AUKUS directly involves Australia in warfare. Defence personnel, training for AUKUS, were on the US sub that sunk the Iranian warship on 4 March this year.
We must oppose the growing militarism from our governments and universities through iLAunCH and AUKUS. Universities should be a place of learning, not warfare.

The ANU National Security College's "Securing our Future" conference has invited Andrew Hastie to speak. Andrew Hastie is a far right politician who in 2025 stood by earlier remarks that women should not serve in combat roles in the ADF. He has supported massively reducing migration, saying that migrants "Have to sign up to Australian values, which are fundamentally Judeo-Christian values," and has supported sending Gazan refugees back. He is also a supporter of the AUKUS agreement and promised to spend an extra $21 billion in defence if the Coalition won the election last year.

The ANU must not legitimise such a racist, sexist, war-hungry politician. It must not promote the idea that migration is to blame for social instability, or that maintaining social cohesion requires "cracking down" on pro-Palestine protests or Muslims. The ANU should end its investments, research programmes and scholarships with companies like Northrop Grumman and the Australian Signals Directorate complicit in Israel's genocide, as working with such organisations is the real threat to social cohesion. The ANU must prioritise quality education and staff jobs over planning out Australia's drive to war in our own region.

We will be protesting outside the ADM Congress on Wed 18 Feb at 4.30pm at the footpath on the front entrance of the Hyatt Hotel (120 Commonwealth Ave, Yarralumla). The ADM congress is sponsored by Electro Optic Systems, an arms company exporting R400 systems used by Israel, and includes speakers from EOS, BAE Systems, Palantir and other complicit arms and surveillance companies. The congress will also feature speakers from the Department of Defence and other government agencies, as well as the ANU, discussing AUKUS Pillar II in particular.

We will be demanding that the govt:
- Sanction Israel and cut all ties with organisations complicit in genocide
- Remove restrictions on Palestine protests and on the right to criticise Israel

and that the ANU:
- End all collaboration with EOS, Northrop Grumman and other organisations complicit in genocide

Speakers include SSAW, Independent and Peaceful Australia Network, and ANU Student Association Education Officer
