Use a car for work? 🚗

You can claim a deduction for work-related trips as long as you have a record to prove it. There’s no 'maximum kms with no records' rule - that’s fake news.

You’ll need to show that you own or lease the car, that you spent the money yourself and weren’t reimbursed, and how you’ve calculated your work-related kilometres. The easiest ways are to keep a diary or use the myDeductions tool in our app.

Work out your deduction using one of the 2 methods per car - Cents per km or Logbook method.

The tax-free threshold means most Australian residents for tax purposes don’t pay tax on the first $18,200 earned in the income year.

If you tick ‘yes’ for the tax-free threshold on more than one job, both employers will tax you like you’re entitled to the full threshold.

But you only get it once for the year, not per job.

While you may be enjoying extra cash in your pay now, you’ll likely get a bill come tax time.

Keep it simple:
✅ Only claim the threshold from ONE employer (usually the highest paying) on your TFN declaration form.

Life in plastic? It does seem pretty fantastic 💅

A woman of many careers, Barbie has lots of experience when it comes to keeping her work obligations tidy 👗

Whether she’s a fashion designer, astronaut, or anything in between, Barbie only claims work-related expenses that:

✨ she purchased herself (and wasn’t reimbursed)
✨ are directly related to her current role and earning her income
✨ she has proof of purchase (like receipts) to support her claims.

She can rest easy in her dreamhouse knowing her tax is in check 🏠
