The German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce is not only a great partner for companies wanting to enter the Australian or German markets respectively, they are also a great partner of the 🇩🇪 embassy, where we value their extensive expertise on economic and trade matters.

🎉🎬 German Film Festival 2026 Wrap Up 🎥 🇩🇪

This year’s German Film Festival has been (yet again) a cinephile's delight! 🥨 Thank you to Palace Cinemas , German Films and Goethe-Institut Australien for making all that possible✨

Around Australia 🇦🇺, the festival started with the opening showing Berlin Hero. In Canberra, moviegoers were warmly welcomed with Beer 🍺, a German snack box 🌭 and a speech by Palace Cinema CEO Benjamin Zeccola. The embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Sigrid Sommer also had the honour of addressing the audience 🥂 before the showing of “Der Held vom Bahnhof Friedrichstraße” started, which was perceived as an entertaining and humorous experience.

Over the course of two weeks, visitors had the chance to enjoy critically acclaimed highlights like “Sound of Falling” or Fatih Akin’s “Amrum” (the latter can still be seen in encore screenings - check out 👉 https://bit.ly/4voyoqk).

The closing night offered another highlight: The director’s cut of “Das Boot” by Wolfgang Petersen has the international reputation of being one of the best German movies ever made. When the credits rolled, accompanied by the unmistakable score, the whole audience remained seated, wrecked in the best possible way by the intense experience.

Thank you to all visitors! 🍿🎥 Please write in the comments which one of the movies you enjoyed the most👇🎬

🚴‍♀️ World Bicycle Day 2026 🌏🌷

Today is World Day and this year’s theme, “Cycling for a Greener Future”, reminds us that every ride can contribute to healthier communities, cleaner air and a more sustainable future. 🌱

Germany offers countless opportunities to experience the joy of cycling while exploring some of Europe’s most beautiful landscapes. From the winding paths of the Moselle Valley and the vineyards along the Rhine, to the shores of Lake Constance and the dramatic scenery of the Baltic Coast, Germany’s cycling routes combine nature, culture and sustainability.

Whether you prefer a leisurely ride through historic towns, a family-friendly river trail, or a challenging mountain route, there is a German cycling adventure for everyone.

On this , we celebrate the bicycle as a simple, reliable and environmentally friendly way to discover the world—one pedal stroke at a time. 🌿 🇩🇪
