Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra observed the ‘July Uprising 2026’ on 12 August 2026, marking the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising in 2024, with deep respect and solemnity. The program began with a minute of silence for the martyrs, followed by the reading out of special messages from the Hon’ble President, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Hon’ble Foreign Minister, and the Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the uprising. Five distinguished speakers from the Bangladesh Community then reflected on the significance of the July–August movement, highlighting youth led democratic change, accountability, digital activism, development aspirations, and diaspora advocacy. In his remark, H.E. the High Commissioner F.M. Borhan Uddin paid tribute to the indomitable spirit of the July–August fighters and called upon the expatriate community to unite in purpose and support the new government led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in building a just, dignified, and democratic Bangladesh. The event concluded with the screening of eight documentaries on the Uprising.

Today, 16 August 2026, Bangladesh Cricket Team achieved a landmark Test victory against Australia in Darwin — their first‑ever Test win on Australian soil. After 23 years, Bangladesh returned to Australia for Test cricket and delivered a commanding nine‑wicket triumph, marking one of the greatest achievements in the nation’s cricket history.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Australia, H.E. F.M. Borhan Uddin, watched the match and extended his heartfelt congratulation to the team on this outstanding accomplishment.
