Great feature in The Australian highlighting the success of Dhupuma Barker School in Arnhem Land, NT.

Established by Barker College in Sydney and the Yothu Yindi Foundation, the school is demonstrating the power of an extraordinary partnership between metropolitan Australia and Arnhem Land, delivering strong educational outcomes while celebrating Yolngu language, culture and identity.

What began in 2021 with two transportable classrooms has become a powerful example of what can be achieved when communities, educators and families work together, with strong attendance, improving learning outcomes and growing community engagement.

It's a wonderful story of opportunity, collaboration and shared purpose, helping young people in one of Australia's most remote communities thrive and succeed.

The Choice and Affordability Fund helps schools and families respond to challenges that can put a student's education at risk – from natural disasters and financial hardship to supporting student wellbeing, educational opportunity and school funding transitions.

In his opinion piece for EducationHQ, ISA CEO Graham Catt, argues that debate about school funding should be grounded in evidence and the experiences of the students, families and communities these programs support.

As he writes,"The real question is not whether public schools or Independent schools deserve support. Australia needs both. The question is whether targeted funding produces public value, protects students and preserves access during periods of change or crisis."
