🇧🇪 Biometric mission in Perth! This week, the embassy team traveled to Perth for a consular biometric mission. Nearly 130 fellow Belgians livimg in Western Australia were able to renew their passports or ID cards without having to travel all the way to Canberra. While there, our Consul also visited the VFS Global centre, our partner responsible for processing visa applications. A big thank you to everyone who came along and see you at the next mission! 🦘

The Embassy of Belgium in Canberra was delighted to collaborate with the Embassy of Ireland this week! 🇧🇪🇮🇪

We hosted the Welcome Reception for the Model EU, coorganised by the Association for European Studies and by the Delegation of the EU in Australia.

We held a speed dating event, encouraging students to chat with our Team Europe diplomats and learn a bit about the EU. 💬💬💬

It was so great to see such enthusiasm and dedication from the students, and we hope it was a great experience.

Today, our consul Vivien Sierens was delighted to deliver a training session on Belgian diplomacy — in French — to a group of Australian diplomats from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Canberra. 🇧🇪🇦🇺

A great opportunity to share insights into Belgium's diplomatic practice and strengthen the ties between our two countries' foreign services.

🇧🇪 Biometric mission in Tahiti

This week, the Belgian Embassy in Canberra organised a biometric mission in Tahiti for our Belgian community in French Polynesia! 📄🌴

A great opportunity for compatriots to take care of their consular formalities (ID cards, passports) closer to home — followed by a well-deserved drink by the lagoon to catch up with fellow Belgians. 🥂

Yesterday, 30 July, was World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, or Blue Heart Day.

The Blue Heart Campaign is a program by the United Nations to raise awareness of human trafficking and its impact on people and society. Blue Hearts represent solidarity with victims of human trafficking, the cold heartedness of traffickers and the United Nations commitment to combating this crime against human dignity.

The Government of Belgium is committed to the fight to end human trafficking.

🇧🇪 Bringing consular services closer to Belgians in New Caledonia🇳🇨🇫🇷

Belgian Consul Vivien Sierens recently organised a biometric mission to Nouméa, with the invaluable support of Honorary Consul Grégory Aulotte, to serve the Belgian community residing in New Caledonia.

Around forty fellow citizens were able to renew their biometric identity documents on this occasion, without having to travel all the way to Canberra — a great illustration of our commitment to bringing consular services closer to Belgians, wherever they live.

The mission was also an opportunity to bring the community together: a friendly drink was organised on the sidelines of the mission, giving Belgians in Nouméa a chance to meet, reconnect, and enjoy a moment conviviality together.

Next stop: Tahiti! 🇵🇫
