I wrote something recently that means a lot to me.
Region Canberra published an opinion piece I wrote, about what I see most in my work with older Canberrans. Not poor health, not money worries, but loneliness; the quiet, ordinary kind that creeps in so gradually that no one, including the person going through it, quite notices what's happening.

To be honest, I got a bit emotional rereading it again. It's the most personal thing I've written since starting Golden Days and I think it expresses exactly what I've been wanting to say for a while.

Golden Days ACT provides private one-to-one companionship for Seniors in Canberra. It is just me, Kimberley, the same friendly face at the same day and time each week. No uniforms, no clipboards, no rush. Simply a genuine friendship your loved one can look forward to.

Visits are one and a half hours and each visit is $100, billed monthly with no lock-in contracts.

1. You call me for a chat about your mum or dad
2. I come and meet them, no pressure, just a hello and a quick chay
3. I visit every week. Same day, same time, same face.

That consistency is the whole point. Not a rotating roster of strangers. One person your parent actually knows.

I also offer Companion Calls by phone or video, and settling-in support for the move into aged care.

I'm not big on uniforms. Never have been.

When I visit someone, I want them to see a friend walking through the door, not someone "on shift." That's the whole idea behind Golden Days. Real visits, real conversation, real company, for Seniors across Canberra.

If you've got a parent or a loved one in a nursing home and you wish someone could just... show up for them, that's exactly what I do. Walks, games, a cuppa and a proper chat. Whatever brightens their week.

Golden Days ACT was on ABC Radio's breakfast show yesterday morning, interviewed by Kim Huynh, off the back of an opinion piece in Region Canberra on loneliness among older Canberrans.

It's a conversation that matters more than any single business. Loneliness among Seniors is real, it's common, it's rarely talked about and having it reach a national radio audience means more people are thinking about it today than yesterday.

That's really what Golden Days ACT exists to do, not just provide companionship one visit at a time, but help shift how Canberra and now a wider audience, thinks about connection in later life.
