Help saving Django, the dingo
Two weeks ago Django the dingo was found in his home paralysed and breeding heavily. When his carer lifted him to her car his eyes were rolled back and his tongue was sticking out. He was basically gone. He was taken to the vet and a paralysis tick was found on his inner thigh. His carer called Potoroo Palace and asked if we could pay for the treatment. We said yes without a doubt.
Straight away Django was given the medicine for tick paralysis. The vet did not give us much hope and we all thought we had lost him.
Nahla, his life partner and mother to his pups who has never been without Django, was devastated. And we knew we had to fight with everything we could even if there wasn’t much hope. Anyone who have encountered a dingo know how special they are.
After two days of fighting death Django started to show signs of recovery. He could lift his head!
After four days he was walking around the vet clinic marking his territory!
Today he is considered back to his normal self! And we know to give dingoes topical tick prevention instead of the chews.
We are now asking for donations to pay for Django’s treatment. The vet bill was $2,500. Django is worth every $, but it is a big sum for a small native animal sanctuary.
Please consider a donation for saving Django ❤️🐕
Django’s story - a little background
In August 2022 Potoroo Palace got contacted by Justin White. Justin’s life had changed during the pandemic and he was looking for a permanent home for his two pure bred northern dingoes - Django and Nahla.
Potoroo Palace said yes to take the Dingoes!
But the buroqracey is complicated so they haven’t been able to move to the sanctuary, not until there is an approved permit. In the meantime Django and Nahla have been taken care of and lived with some of Potoroo Palaces animal carers. And hopefully soon you will be able to meet them at Potoroo Palace. They are excellent ambassadors for dingoes. They have the wild integrity of a dingo, but don’t mind spending time with humans
