Right now Fire Brigades across Victoria are open for new recruits.

At Cann Valley we need the following members -
* People who live in town
* People who have truck licences (medium rigid is fine)
* People who can respond in the day time
* People who can respond at night and on weekends
* People who are fit and willing to learn new skills

DON'T Be a Silly Sausage!... you might want that tender smoky meat. But put the beads down.

It’s Friday. It’s a Total Fire Ban. It’s Catastrophic fire weather.

Somewhere, there is a mate staring lovingly at their offset smoker or weber. They are holding a bag of charcoal. They are thinking, "Low and slow isn't really a fire, is it?"

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️STOP⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

Let’s be crystal clear: Solid Fuel BBQs (Wood, Charcoal, Briquettes) are BANNED today. No exceptions. No "just a quick sear."

If it burns solid fuel, it stays cold. If you light it, we have to come over. And if we have to interrupt our lunch to put out your lunch, we won't be polite about it.

Gas or Electric? Maybe. But there are strict rules you need to follow (like having a hose ready and a clear area).

Solid Fuel? Absolutely not.

So after excellent weather, busy main street and few shots with Larry the lyrebird all our members turned out to cook egg and bacon rolls and sausages in bread for our Fire Prepardness day out side the Community centre . Job well done. Had quite a few "have you got a plan?" Converations and handed out 80 plus food off the BBQ.

Put it in your diary... this coming Saturday. Pre fire season preparedness day. Come and see us outside Cann Valley community centre between 11am and 2pm. Get info on preparing your property. Sign up for free smoke detectors. Donate to our station and grab a egg and bacon roll or sausage in bread..
