Today marks the start of National Reconcilation Week. All in, the theme for Reconciliation Week is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
All students will participate in Reconciliation Week activities throughout the week.

This term, Stage 3 have been learning about the Wave Hill Walk Off, The 1967 Referrendum and the High Court Mabo decision.

Today is the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum. The Referendum sought to change two sections of the Constitution in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 90.77% of Australian voters voted ‘Yes’ to the changes.

The 1967 Referendum has iconic status in Australian history.

Lots of fun reading Luna Roo The Kangaroo Baller this week in the library. Our students participated in Australia’s biggest collective reading event. Together we literally kicked goals!

🎉🏆 Congratulations to our amazing Boccia athletes from Cardiff South! 🏆🎉

Five talented players competed in the Newcastle Boccia Competition today. They won their pool and went all the way to take out the Final! Super proud of this team. Everyone put in a great effort and showed wonderful sportsmanship. Well done to our Boccia champions!

Our Star Struck rehearsals are in full swing with CSPS students bringing incredible energy, enthusiasm and creativity to the stage! 🩷✨ Every rehearsal is bringing the magic of “Out of the Ordinary” to life in bigger and more exciting ways 💫

Our students are working hard, supporting one another and giving every moment their all as they prepare for this unforgettable experience. We are so proud of their dedication and can’t wait to see them shine on the big stage in just a few weeks time! ⭐️

On National Sorry Day, we honour the strength, truth and lived experiences of Stolen Generations survivors and their families.

Today, students will acknowledge National Sorry Day with age appropriate activities.

A big week...
-National Sorry Day is Tuesday 26 May.
-National Reconciliation Week starts on Wednesday 27 May and finishes on Wednesday 3 June.
-All classes will participate in National Simultaneous Story Time activities during their library lessons this week.
-PSSA Netball and Soccer on Friday.

🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ Walk Safely to School Day is tomorrow – Friday 22nd May! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

We’re encouraging all of our Cardiff South School families to find a safe and active way to get to school tomorrow. Ditch the car, park a couple of blocks away or walk with friends and family to join in the fun! 🌟

Students will be handing out themed tattoos at:
📍 Main Gate – Lake Ave
📍 Side Gate – Third Street

There is only a limited number available, so make sure you arrive safely and join in early!

We’ll also have a tattoo station in the playground where some of our senior students will be helping to apply them. 😊

Thank you for supporting healthy, active and safe travel to school — we can’t wait to see everyone getting involved!

🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Walk Safely to School Day 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

This Friday, we’re encouraging everyone to get moving and walk safely to school. It’s a great way to start the day fresh, enjoy some fresh air and connect with our wonderful community.

If walking the whole way isn’t possible, no worries! Here are some fun and easy alternatives:
✨ Park a block or two away and stroll the rest of the way
✨ Catch a local bus and walk from the stop
✨ Ride your scooter or bike safely to school

To make it even more exciting, we will be handing out cool themed tattoos at the gate on Friday morning – a little fun reward for joining in!

Let’s all take steps towards a healthier lifestyle together. We can’t wait to see you walking, wheeling, and smiling on Friday morning!
