Some more good news! - Update April 4th 2025

Disclaimer: All information on the Carnarvon Gorge page is provided by local volunteers.

The good news is that the creek height at Rewan Crossing has dropped significantly overnight, meaning the road into Carnarvon Gorge is now passable.

✅ Sandstone Park is open.
✅ BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks is open.
✅ Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge is open.
✅ Australian Nature Guides will resume guided tours from April 7th.
✅ Central Queensland Nature Tours will stagger the launch of their guided tours from April 9th.

The final piece of the puzzle is the main walking track. This morning there is still about a foot of water flowing over the stepping stones at crossing one. As a result, the main walking track will remain closed today, but the rangers are hopeful it can be reopened tomorrow.

In the meantime, enjoy exploring Mickey Creek and Warrumbah Gorge, which will be pretty as a picture right now!

GOOD NEWS! Blue skies ahead - Flood update April 3rd 2025

The forecast for Friday onwards is for sunshine, sunshine, and more sunshine ☀️ Yay!

Now all we're waiting for is for the remaining floodwaters to drain from the local catchment.

Carnarvon Creek is still very high, making the Gorge inaccessible for the time being. Check out the following link for current creek height data for Rewan Crossing. Once that measurement drops to approximately 2 metres, most vehicles will be able to cross Carnarvon Creek at Rewan: http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDQ65392/IDQ65392.535054.plt.shtml

🚧 More closures 🚧

That's right, solid rainfall overnight and this morning has led to more flooding at Carnarvon Gorge.

The main walking track is currently closed, and will remain closed until at least the end of tomorrow, Thursday April 3rd. Sites affected by this closure are listed below:
❌ Amphitheatre
❌ Art Gallery
❌ Big Bend
❌ Boolimba Gorge
❌ Cathedral Cave
❌ Moss Garden
❌ Nature Trail
❌ Ward's Canyon

Whilst the following sites are currently open, please be aware further rainfall and flooding may lead to additional closures:
✅ Mickey Creek
✅ Rock Pool

Please observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
