Steve has been a City of Melton resident for 15 years and during that time has, as a volunteer, mentored and taught disadvantaged young people life skills to help them lead fulfilling lives. He is passionate about ensuring the communityโ€™s most vulnerable and disenfranchised residents have a voice and are represented in key Council issues. He is particularly interested in relieving the cost-of-livi

ng pressures faced by residents. The achievements and passion of this cityโ€™s residents, together with the picturesque parks, gardens and lakes are what make Steve a proud resident and Councillor of the municipality. Steve and his wife Mariasol, a cancer nurse, have two primary school aged sons: Rafael, Orlando and cute groodle puppy named Aldo. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration, graduating with a high distinction average and has worked in the State Government and not-for-profit sector.

NAMING OUR NEW AQUATIC CENTRE ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Earlier this year we asked for your suggestions on what to name the new Aquatic and Leisure Centre. Thanks to everyone who shared their ideas. The highest voted naming theme was Linking the name to place, receiving over 72% of the vote.

The shortlisted name for the new aquatic and leisure centre is โ€œTides Fraser Rise.โ€

The Aquatic and Leisure Centre is set to open in 2028 and will bring aquatic and fitness facilities, allied health services, and community meeting spaces together under one roof.

๐Ÿ“ข Have your say: Improving pedestrian safety and traffic flow at the Caroline Springs Boulevard, The Esplanade and The Crossing roundabout.

We are planning safety improvements at the roundabout and want your feedback on the proposed design.

The proposed works include two raised pedestrian crossings with pedestrian operated traffic signals, two raised priority crossings, an extended left-turn lane into Lake Street, and upgraded street lighting.

โ€œThere are significant community concerns that some proposals are being considered through state planning pathways that reduce the role of local councils and communities in decision-making,โ€ he said.

โ€œThere is a need to develop clear planning policy at a federal and state level to guide assessment of data centre development and provide greater certainty for local communities.โ€
