Today on International Women’s Day we recognise and celebrate the incredible women connected to the Catherine Field Brigade.
Across the service, women currently make up just 7.6% of leadership roles. Here at Catherine Field our female members make up 25% of our brigade with 6 holding various titles within the brigade and district. We are proud to have women who contribute an enormous amount of time and effort, not only to our brigade – being firefighters on the truck, members serving in officer positions, executive and senior leadership roles within the district including female representative and young members representative, but within the greater RFS community – running and assisting with training courses, Girls on fire program, school programs, assisting with both local and state wide “championship” events and many more. Their commitment, capability and dedication help make our brigade and the RFS stronger every day.
Just like these “behind the scenes” pics from our film shoot, we also need to recognise the women at home supporting our members and families while volunteers are out responding to incidents, attending training, and serving the community. Whether it’s our Wives, Daughters, Sisters, Mothers or Grandmas, your support “behind the scenes” plays a huge part in making volunteering possible for all of us and we are deeply grateful.
To all the women who give their time, effort and support to our brigade and our members, thank you. Your contribution helps keep our brigade and our community strong.
Happy International Women’s Day.
