Emmy Monash A vibrant community centre building engaging connections for all. Our nurses and carers are attentive, responsive and knowledgeable.

Emmy Monash is an award winning, independent aged care provider delivering high quality services and accommodation to Melbourne’s Jewish community. They are always there when you need them. We believe choice, inspiration and family are at the centre of positive experiences. That belief is reflected in the diverse spaces and activities, natural gardens and warm friendships our residents enjoy. At Emmy Monash we celebrate Jewish culture and tradition, while respecting every person’s freedom of engagement. A not-for-profit organisation founded by local people, we have strong connections to community. Everything rewarding about local life continues in our home.

The sweet smell of coconut filled the room during our Bake & Taste session as residents came together to make Grandma's Coconut Pyramids.
The session was filled with baking, conversation and plenty of sweet treats fresh from the oven. This recipe, shared by resident John Kraus’s wife, Adrienne, is featured in our commemorative cookbook, 85 Years at the Table: L'Dor V'Dor From Generation to Generation. Available for pre-order now and launching this December.

Movement connects us in powerful ways.
As part of our Bridging the Gap program, Emmy residents and Year 9 Mount Scopus Memorial College students took part in an engaging Kung Fu session led by Kevin Kou from our physio partners, Total Health Choice.
For older adults, activities that support balance, coordination and gentle strength-building are key to maintaining independence and wellbeing. For students, it was an opportunity to learn alongside another generation, gain new perspectives and engage in a shared experience that brought everyone together.

Today we commemorated October 7 with a powerful and deeply moving event. We were honoured to welcome Idan Goldberger from Sheba Medical Centre as our guest speaker, sharing reflections and stories that resonated deeply with all in attendance. Rabbi Ronnie Figdor OAM led us in prayer, resident John Kraus recited the Kaddish, and Isaac Itescu's uplifting violin performance added a beautiful musical moment.

A meaningful candle-lighting ceremony was led by Naama Neeman and resident Ruth Figdor, who lit two candles in memory of those who lost their lives and all those affected by the events of October 7 and the Bondi tragedy.

Today, we remember the victims, the hostages, and all those impacted by October 7. May their memories be a blessing, and may we continue to stand together in reflection, remembrance and unity.

Alongside the music and festive spirit, residents enjoyed delicious samples from recipes featured in 85 Years at the Table, Emmy’s commemorative cookbook, bringing together recipes, memories and stories that have shaped our community over the past 85 years.
Launching this December, the cookbook is now available for preorder https://www.emmymonash.asn.au/shop/emmycookbook/

Emmy residents participating in the Safta Program look forward to their weekly visits to Gandel Besen Kinder just as much as the children do. With every visit offering something different, residents engage in ways that reflect their passions, encouraging confidence and a sense of purpose. This long-standing partnership between Emmy Monash and Mount Scopus Memorial College fosters intergenerational connections and enriches the lives of everyone involved.
