We are running for council because we believe our local government has lost its focus, and we aim to bring a common-sense approach to representing our community. Instead of addressing issues that directly impact us, the council is venturing into areas outside its jurisdiction, such as a nearby council adopting a nuclear-free investment policy—an issue that belongs at the federal, not even state, level. It raises the question: What’s the role of local government if it’s not focusing on the matters it can actually influence?
Local councils are meant to focus on what we call the "3 R’s" – Rates, Rubbish, and Roads. These are the core services that truly affect the day-to-day lives of residents. When councils stray into areas beyond their control, they waste time and resources that should be used to improve our community.
Our goal is to bring the council back to what it’s supposed to do: focus on core responsibilities and deliver real results. We want to ensure that resources are used efficiently, and that tangible improvements are made in the services that matter most to our residents. By running for council, we aim to realign its priorities to better serve the community and create positive change where it truly counts.
