🗣️ Stories shared in the Wollombi Valley👂

It was a pleasure to lead an intimate storytelling evening in Wollombi last night.

Around 35 local residents came along to share stories, moments, memories, places that have shaped the Wollombi Valley community.

A big thank you also to Wollombi General Store for hosting us. 🙏

The evening was designed to help inform the development of our new Heritage Strategy and Heritage Policy.

If you have a story that feel has helped shape our community, we encourage you to share it on our project page - https://together.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/heritage-strategy-policy

🎨 CLAY ON COUNTRY 🎨

Recently, the PACC Gallery celebrated the opening of the Clay on Country exhibition, with close to 100 people in attendance. 🎉

👥 The opening was a wonderful opportunity for our community to experience these important works, hear directly about the artists and the exhibition’s journey, and celebrate the richness and diversity of contemporary ceramic practice.

Clay on Country presents a remarkable array of ceramics alongside First Nations artistic practices, showcasing the work of highly regarded practitioners and world-class contemporary ceramics from Central Australia.

👉 Experience this fantastic exhibit, before it's gone! Clay on Country is currently on display at the PACC Gallery until Saturday 19 September, with FREE entry.

🚘 Parking Enforcement Series 🚘
- 3 metre spacing

Next up in our series focusing on the parking laws set out in the NSW Government's Road Rules 2014, we are looking at road users being required to provide 3 metres of space alongside their vehicle. 🚙

There are 3 graphics provided in this post, showcasing multiple scenarios where this rule will apply for road users. 👀

Unless otherwise indicated by information on a parking control sign, drivers must adhere to the following:

▶️ If the road has a continuous dividing line or a dividing strip, the driver must position the vehicle at least three metres from the continuous dividing line or dividing strip.

▶️ If the road does not have a continuous dividing line or a dividing strip, the driver must position the vehicle so there is at least three metres of the road alongside the vehicle that is clear for other vehicles to pass.

Why is this an important road rule? 🤔

🚗 Allows continued traffic flow
🚒 Emergency vehicle access
♻️ Waste collection vehicle access
⚠️ Preventing collisions & illegal manoeuvres
🚴 Protecting cyclists on the road

🚧 UPCOMING WORKS 🚧
- Road Closure - Sparke & Tennant Street, Bellbird

As part of ongoing pedestrian safety improvements in Doyle Street, Sparke Street and Tennant Street areas of Bellbird, contractors on behalf of Council will be installing asphalt in these areas on 1 September, between 6:30am & 4.00pm. 🛠️

⚠️ This work will require the temporary closure of Sparke Street between Doyle Street and Pittman Street and then Tennant Street between Balangara Way and Sparke Street.

🚌 The works will be staged to reduce the impact on the School Bus pickup and the normal bus routes for this day. A site Marshal will be on site to es**rt the morning school children to be collected on the corner of Sparke Street and Pittman Street.

We thank the community for their patience and understanding while these works are completed. 👥
