As we prepare to welcome you back to the Kurri Kurri Library on Monday 6 July, we’re honouring the history of our grand building (built in 1904).

Take a trip back to May Day, 1932. This snapshot captures decorated vehicles and parade participants gathered outside the Kurri Kurri Co-operative Society on Lang Street. It’s a wonderful reminder of the vibrant past that surrounds us.

A blast from the past! 🕰️

As we prepare to welcome you back to the Kurri Kurri Library on Monday 6 July, we’re honouring the history of our grand building (built in 1904).

This photograph, taken by Alexander Galloway around 1908 from the old Lambie’s Hotel, shows a bustling scene looking out over Rotary Park. Prominent in the background is the Kurri Kurri Co-operative Society building, which has stood the test of time to become the library and community hub we know today.

⭐️Print books remain the most popular, with audiobooks on the rise, with word-of-mouth recommendations being the most popular way of finding your next great read.

⭐️This data is encouraging for the books industry – particularly in its findings around young Australians aged 15-24, who are engaging more frequently with books and reading.
