🌱 Growing Our Character Strengths! 🌱

At Charlestown Public School, we are proud to be growing our minds and strengthening our wellbeing through our Grow Your Mind program.

Each fortnight, our whole school focuses on a particular character strength — exploring what it looks like, sounds like and feels like in our everyday lives. We encourage our students to notice these strengths in themselves and others, and to find opportunities to put them into action.

To celebrate the wonderful ways our students are using their character strengths, we have introduced a new Grow Your Mind Character Strength Award! 🧠💚

Each fortnight, we will recognise:
🏆 One K–2 student
🏆 One Years 3–6 student

These students will be celebrated for demonstrating our focus character strength and showing how they are using their strengths to help themselves and others thrive.

This fortnight, our whole school is focusing on the character strength of Justice.
Justice is about being fair, treating people equally and doing what is right.

Congratulations to our 2 very first Grow Your Mind award winners: Rowan and Farnia! ⭐⭐

We are excited to shine a light on the many ways our students are growing, learning and building their wellbeing each day. 🌱✨

🏆Running, jumping, throwing- our athletes are ready to shine!

Zavier, Miles, Zachary and Digby are headed to Glendale on Friday to the Hunter Regional Athletics Carnival. This is a huge achievement for our talented athletes and we are so proud of their achievement.

Yesterday Mrs Forbes and Mrs Tobin took two senior netball teams to the Belmont Netball Gala Day. Our teams were entered in the social comp and represented CPS with pride playing five games each and displaying great sportsmanship and ball skills. Their results were incredible with one team being undefeated across the whole day and the other team only going down in one match! These were the final scores from the day;

Win against St Pius 20-0
Win against Coal Point 13-2
Loss against Warnervale 6-11

We’re so proud of our dance group for their wonderful performance at the Hunter Dance Festival! 💃✨ They put in so much hard work, dedication, and passion, and it truly showed on stage. Congratulations to our amazing dancers—you made Mrs Kondov and Mrs Tobin very proud! ❤️👏

Charlestown Public School has been recognised by the NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning- Prue Carr as well as the Secretary, NSW Department of Education- Murat Dizdar for our outstanding growth and achievement in student phonic results. We know that a solid grounding in phonics is key to reading success. Our students are fantastic readers!
