Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing mums who are a part of our team !!

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, dedication and compassion of mums everywhere, but especially those in our family.

Across the state, thousands of mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, stepmothers and aunties give their time to help protect their communities. Whether they're on the frontline or supporting behind the scenes their contributions are extraordinary.

Today, we thank them for all they do, not just as RFS members, but as leaders and role models in our brigades and communities.

A different kind of weekend for many in the Central Coast District with ANZAC Day and then many Hazard Reductions (HR). Members participated in solemn dawn services and marches throughout the district on Saturday and then into the HRs for the rest of the weekend. Our Comms team was on shift on the weekend and our Operational Command Vehicle (OCV) provided Communications links for two HRs in the field. Some of our members also joined their operational brigade in controlled burns to reduce fuel loads in Awaba and Barnsley areas

This week members of our Central Coast Comms Brigade assisted in an Incident Management Assessment (IMA) mainly for people from the Northern Rivers.
It was great for our Comms crew to get practice in a major incident (even though it wasn't real) with very fast paced communications.
The people who were being assessed were amazing and so lovely even though they were very busy and under pressure. The assessment scenarios were very realistic and gave a couple of our new members an insight into what it can be like being in comms during a big incident.

We've been out with our Operational Command Vehicle (OCV).
This was an exercise that had several objectives.
✴️ To scope out and prepare for a multi group training exercise
✴️ To train one of our Comms members on how to set up our OCV
✴️ To take photos for our new 'How to' and Problem Solving manual for the OCV
✴️ To test our new generators and see what they are capable of
✴️ To ensure the OCV is fully operational and ready for anything
