✅ Secure loose outdoor furniture and other items
✅ Park vehicles undercover and away from trees
✅ Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater

🏕️ If you're camping these school holidays, choose your campsite carefully and have a plan if conditions change. Remember to:

▶ Camp away from trees and overhanging branches
▶ Set up on higher ground, away from creeks, rivers and streams
▶ Know your camping ground's emergency plan
▶ Set a watch zone for your campsite in the VicEmergency app

🧡 From storm response to training night!

After a busy Sunday responding to storm damage across our community, our volunteers were back at the unit Monday night for Safe Working at Heights training. 🪢💪

It’s a crucial skill for safely assessing and tackling storm damage in those tricky-to-reach places.

Our training never stops — every session builds our skills, keeps us safe and makes sure we’re ready when the pager goes off.

💨 When the wind picked up, so did the pagers… 🌳

We knew Sunday was going to be a windy one, so our crews were ready — and it didn’t take long for things to get busy!

The first pager went off just after 9:30am, kicking off a steady stream of jobs that didn’t wrap up until the final call came through just after 8:30pm.

Our volunteers spent the day across the community dealing with the aftermath of the strong winds — mostly large branches and entire trees coming down, damaging properties and, in some cases, completely blocking roads.

There was plenty of cutting, lifting, clearing and problem-solving along the way. 🪚🌳💪

A massive thank you to our duty crew and every volunteer who answered the pager throughout the day. Giving up your Sunday to head out and help the community is what SES is all about. 🧡

And as always, thank you to everyone who gave our crews space to work safely and patiently waited while we worked through the jobs.

Today we’re celebrating all the dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures who make a difference in our lives.

To the dads who volunteer with us, thank you for giving your time, skills and energy to help keep our communities safe.

Scouts Night with SES 🚨🧡

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Scouts along for an action-packed SES night! 👏

The Scouts got a hands-on introduction to what we do at SES, with plenty of practical activities and a few opportunities to get their hands on the tools.

🚒 Pump station – learning about our flood response equipment
🛠️ Tools – getting up close with some of the gear we use on jobs
🌊 Flood response – learning what happens when the rain really starts coming down
🪢 Knots & ropes – putting their knot-tying skills to the test
👷 SES life – learning about volunteering, emergency response and how we help our community

There was plenty of curiosity, lots of questions and, of course, a fair bit of fun along the way!

A big thank you to the Scouts for joining us and to our volunteers who gave up their time to make the night happen. 🧡

Who knows… we may have met some future SES volunteers! 😉

Today, our volunteers were called to assist with the rescue of a young boy from the beach below the Black Rock cliffs. He was safely extracted and handed over to Ambulance Victoria.

Incidents like this are an important reminder to respect the terrain. If you’re exploring the coast, please stick to established paths and safe access points, keep children close and avoid climbing on or around cliff faces.

New Crew Members 🎉🚨

A huge congratulations to our newest cohort of SES volunteers who have completed their Crew Member Supervised Training this week! 👏🧡

It’s a fantastic milestone and the culmination of plenty of learning, practical skills, teamwork and hard work. We’re excited to see you continue your journey with the unit and put those skills into action supporting our community. 💪

A massive thank you to our incredible trainers and supervisors for giving their time, knowledge and experience to help our newest members reach this milestone. Your commitment to developing the next generation of SES volunteers is truly appreciated. 🧡
