A big morning of training yesterday at the Chewton Primary School - internal entry, BA, search and rescue, hose management, boosting from the hydrant and traffic management. A great exercise in getting familiar with the school.

An Extreme Fire Danger Rating has been forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday 17 February 2026, in the Wimmera, North Central, Central, South West, West and South Gippsland forecast districts. Take action now to protect your life and property – fires will spread quickly and be extremely dangerous.

A Total Fire Ban has also been declared for these forecast districts.

This means no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air.

Fire Dangers Ratings are forecast using Bureau of Meteorology data up to four days in advance, but can change on the day. Therefore, it is important to check the Fire Danger Rating for your area every day and know which rating is your trigger to act.

Two weeks later and we‘re still finding hot spots around Harcourt. Crews are doing their best to find and extinguish ahead of the hot week, but it’s a tough ask when they’re burning underground. Thanks for keeping us company today Harcourt Fire Brigade and Elphinstone Fire Brigade - CFA.
