Severe Weather Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS

For people in parts of Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Murraylands and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 10:37 pm Monday, 1 June 2026.

Damaging winds affecting parts of South Australia overnight and into Tuesday.

Weather Situation: Damaging westerly winds are forecast to impact parts of the western coastline, Mt Lofty and Flinders ranges overnight and into Tuesday, as a deep low pressure system moves eastward across the Bight.

For WESTERN COASTAL AREAS: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible about parts of the West Coast and Lower Eyre Peninsula overnight, easing before sunrise.

For FLINDERS RANGES AND MOUNT LOFTY RANGES: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely from early Tuesday morning, easing by Tuesday evening.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Strathalbyn, Maitland, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Ceduna and Port Augusta.

Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Adelaide Metropolitan, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Upper South East, Lower South East and North West Pastoral districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

Sustained 68 km/h winds were recorded at Port Pirie Airport at 12:30 pm.

90 km/h wind gust was recorded at Port Pirie Airport at 11:47 am.

Sustained 68 km/h winds were recorded at Warburto Point (near Moonta) around 8:15 am.

94 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cleve at 7:07 am.

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am ACST Tuesday.

Weather Situation: A strong cold front will sweep across the state during Monday bringing isolated damaging wind gusts to much of the state. A deep low-pressure system will follow later on Monday bringing a broader damaging wind risk over western parts of the state, extending eastwards to the Adelaide region, central, and southeastern parts during Monday evening as the low passes to the south of Adelaide overnight.

DAMAGING WINDS GUSTS to 90 km/h are possible across western and central parts of the state from late Monday morning, including Adelaide and the Mt Lofty Ranges.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 100 km/h become likely about the West Coast, Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula during Monday afternoon, extending to the remainder of the warning area, including Adelaide and the southeast, during Monday evening.

DAMAGING WINDS are expected to ease over coastal and low lying areas, including Adelaide, during Tuesday morning, and then gradually ease over the Flinders Ranges and Mt Lofty Ranges during Tuesday afternoon and evening.

SES Large Animal Rescue provides specialist assistance to safely rescue horses, cattle and other large animals during emergencies.

Specially trained volunteers support animal owners and partner agencies during floods, accidents, and entrapments, helping protect animal welfare while reducing risks to people and responders.

SES Road Crash Rescue volunteers are trained and equipped to safely extricate and provide first aid to those involved in crashes and support other emergencies.

Volunteers work together to stabilise vehicles and safely extricate trapped or injured people using appropriate tools and techniques.
