Seven years on, the State Barrier Fence is still incomplete.

In the past 6 months, a farmer in the Great Western Woodlands has lost 100 pregnant ewes and 80 lambs to wild dog attacks.

Congratulations Brendon Grylls on his appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours “for significant service to the people and Parliament of Western Australia, and to the community.”

Brendon represented Central Wheatbelt, formerly the seat of Merredin, before representing Pilbara. His parliamentary career spanned from 2001 to 2017. He served as Leader of The Nationals WA between 2005 and 2013, and again from 2016 to 2017. During his parliamentary career, he held several ministerial portfolios, including Regional Development and Lands.

The architect of Royalties for Regions, Brendon fundamentally changed the way governments invest in regional communities. His vision ensured that regional Western Australians received a fairer share of the wealth generated in our state, leaving a legacy that can still be seen in communities right across regional WA today.

A well-deserved honour and we thank him for his outstanding service to regional Western Australia and our state.

Western Australia has some of the largest uranium deposits in the world, yet WA Labor won't lift their ideological ban on an industry that could create jobs, attract investment and strengthen our economy. The Nationals WA will change that.

Passive level crossings are rail crossings without flashing lights or boom gates.

They are among the most dangerous points on our rail network, which is why the latest National Level Crossing Safety Strategy recommends that no new passive crossings be built.

Yet despite the risks, there are currently no national or state laws requiring trains to meet minimum visibility standards.

That gap is putting regional lives at risk.

20 courts across regional WA will close for 3 months on June 1.

WA Nationals Leader Shane Love MLA told the Kal Miner regional people are being treated as “second class citizens” by the Cook Labor Government.

“This failure will have real consequences for victims waiting on hearings, police resources already under strain, and communities that deserve confidence their justice system is working.

“If regional court services cannot be guaranteed, it sends a clear message that regional Western Australians are being treated as an afterthought.”

❌ NO FISH STOCK ASSESSMENTS IN 2026 🎣

Shadow Minister for Fisheries, Kirrilee Warr MLA, has questioned how the Cook Labor Government can continue claiming its sweeping demersal fishing bans are based on “robust science”, after last week’s Budget Estimates hearings revealed no stock assessments will be undertaken in 2026.

“You cannot tell fishers these bans are based on robust science while stepping away from the very stock assessments needed to support those claims,” she said.

Shadow Minister for Fisheries Kirrilee Warr MLA says the Cook Labor Government’s latest changes to demersal fishing bag limits raise even more questions about the credibility of the initial “science-led” ban introduced in December 2025.

“If the science the Minister relied upon six months ago was so robust and comprehensive, why are we seeing further changes?”
