🚒 Big news for Clarkefield CFA and our local community

We’re proud to share that Clarkefield Fire Brigade has received a 2026 People of Post Grant from Australia Post

This grant will help us purchase new red and blue eFlares for our fire trucks, green eFlares for our quick fill trailer, and new helmet torches for each truck, equipment that directly supports firefighter safety, visibility and emergency response across Clarkefield and surrounding areas.

During the recent Clarkefield fire, our quick fill trailer played an important role in supporting firefighting operations. When crews are working across large firegrounds, every second counts. Being able to quickly identify key equipment, improve visibility and maintain safer working areas can make a real difference for our volunteers.

eFlares are also extremely important at car accidents, road closures and emergency incidents. They help warn approaching drivers, mark hazards and create safer work zones without requiring volunteer firefighters to stand in dangerous positions for longer than necessary.

For a small rural CFA brigade, support like this has a genuine impact. Every piece of equipment helps us respond more safely, protect our volunteers and continue serving our community when it matters most.

A sincere thank you to Australia Post and the People of Post Grants program for supporting community-led organizations and helping us continue building a safer, stronger and more prepared Clarkefield.

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, Clarkefield CFA proudly recognises and thanks every firefighter who gives their time, energy and courage to protect others.

Across Victoria, firefighters stand ready for grassfires, structure fires, road rescues, storm events, strike team deployments and major emergencies. Whether career or volunteer, local or from hundreds of kilometres away, every firefighter plays a part in protecting communities when they need it most.

Here in Clarkefield, we have seen firsthand what that commitment truly looks like.

During the recent Clarkefield fire, it was incredibly inspiring to see so many CFA volunteers give up their time and travel from across the region to support our community. Crews from neighbouring brigades and beyond left their own families, work and commitments behind to stand beside us on the fireground.

That is what the CFA family is all about.

It is not just about trucks, hoses or flashing lights. It is about people. People who turn out at all hours, in all conditions, for communities they may not even live in, simply because help is needed.

To every firefighter across CFA, FRV, Forest Fire Management Victoria and emergency services across Australia — thank you.

To our neighbouring brigades, thank you for your support, professionalism and mateship. We are proud to stand beside you.

Happy International Firefighters’ Day. 🚒

🇦🇺 ANZAC DAY 2026 – COMMUNITY RECAP 🇦🇺

Today, our brigade joined communities across the region to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Members of Clarkefield CFA attended ANZAC Day services across Riddells Creek, Sunbury, and Lancefield, standing alongside local residents, emergency services, and community groups to pay their respects.

We’re also incredibly proud to have had one of our members take part in the Sunbury youth vigil, representing the next generation of service and commitment within our community.

ANZAC Day is a powerful reminder of the values that continue to shape our brigade — service, sacrifice, and looking out for one another. These are the same values our volunteers carry with them every time they respond to an incident, support a neighbour, or protect our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended a service today and helped keep the ANZAC spirit strong across our region.

Lest we forget.

🇦🇺 ANZAC DAY – LEST WE FORGET 🇦🇺

Tomorrow, we pause as a community to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country.

Across our local area, there are several opportunities to come together and pay your respects:

• Bulla ANZAC Service – Morning Service
🕗 8:30am

• Sunbury ANZAC Dawn Service
🕕 6:00am

• Sunbury March & Main Service
🕙 March: 9:50am | Service: 10:15am

In addition, the Sunbury Youth Vigil will be held from 6:00pm tonight through to 6:00am tomorrow, providing a powerful opportunity for younger members of our community to reflect and remember.

ANZAC Day is more than a moment — it’s a reminder of courage, sacrifice, and service to others.

As firefighters, these values resonate deeply within our brigade. Whether it’s responding to incidents, supporting our community, or standing alongside neighbouring brigades, service remains at the core of everything we do.

From all of us at Clarkefield CFA, we encourage our community to take a moment tomorrow — attend a service, stand in silence, and remember those who gave so much.

Lest we forget.

🏡 PREPARE & PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY

🔥 Preparation now can save your home later.

If you live near paddocks or open land around Clarkefield:

✅ Slash long grass
✅ Clear leaves from gutters
✅ Remove flammable items from around your home
✅ Check pumps, hoses and water supply
✅ Make sure driveways are clear for fire trucks

Most homes are lost due to ember attack — not direct flames.

Small jobs today.
Big protection tomorrow.

Start now — not when smoke is visible.

🔥 FDP vs TFB — What’s the difference?

They’re not the same 👇

🟡 Fire Danger Period (FDP)
Declared for a season.
You need a permit to burn off. Restrictions apply.

🔴 Total Fire Ban (TFB)
Declared for a specific day.
No open flames. No solid fuel BBQs. No burn-offs. Strict restrictions.

On TFB days, fires spread fast and are difficult to control — especially in grassfire areas like Clarkefield.

Before lighting anything:

👉 Check emergency.vic.gov.au
👉 Know today’s restrictions

One wrong decision can impact an entire community.

19/03/2026

🌾🔥 Live near paddocks or open grassland?

Grassfires spread fast — especially in wind.

🔥 Keep grass short
🔥 Clear dry fuel
🔥 Know when you’ll leave

Preparation protects your home.

17/03/2026

🚗🔥 Don’t park in dry grass.

Hot exhaust systems can ignite grass within minutes.

If you see dry grass:

❌ Don’t park on it
❌ Don’t drive through it

Small mistake. Big fire.

⚙️ HOT WORKS

⚠️ Welding or grinding? Know the rules.

On high fire danger days, hot works can spark fast-moving grassfires in seconds.

Before you start:

👉 Check if you Can I or Can’t I
👉 Visit cfa.vic.gov.au/can

One spark is all it takes.

07/03/2026

🥩🔥 BBQ planned? Stay fire safe.

Before lighting up:

✅ Check fire restrictions
✅ Inspect gas bottle & hose
❌ Never leave it unattended

On Total Fire Ban days, solid fuel BBQs are not allowed.

Let’s keep summer safe.
