Macedon Ranges Shire Council, in consultation with local CFA brigades, has lifted burning off restrictions on small properties (under one acre) during August 2021.

Lifting this restriction will assist property owners in clearing debris from recent storms.
It’s also a good time for property owners to start reducing the amount of fine fuels from fallen trees and branches which could pose a fire risk later in the year.

~ CHECK YOUR CHIMNEY AND FLUE ~

Today is the first day of Winter and as the cool weather hits it's time to stay warm around the fire place 🔥

Sadly, each year we see an increase in the number of chimney fires from both fireplaces and wood heaters.

Keep your home safe this winter by checking your chimney:
✅ Use a torch to check for creosote build-up or obstructions like bird nests.
✅Have your chimney professionally cleaned annually.

❗️UPDATE: Due to unfavourable weather conditions, these planned burns have been postponed.

🔥 Local Planned Burns 🔥

If the weather conditions are suitable CFA intend to undertake a fuel reduction burn at both Markham Rd and at Websters Rd in Riddells Creek on Saturday the 24th of April.

This burn is aimed at reducing the level of vegetation for fuel reduction and environmental purposes.

Smoke will be visible in the area from 11am until 4pm on Saturday.

During the burn:
• Be aware of fire appliances moving in the area
• There may be traffic delays with the road being closed
• If you have respiratory issues stay indoors. If you have problems breathing contact 24 hour NURSE-ON-CALL 1300 606 024
• There will be smoke in the area which might alarm your pets.
• Take laundry off the line.
• Close your windows.
