Today, we acknowledge National Sorry Day, a day to reflect on the strength, resilience, and healing of the Stolen Generations, their families, and communities.

At Monash Vale ELC, we believe in creating spaces where children learn about respect, inclusion, truth-telling, and the importance of connection to culture and community. Through listening, learning, and meaningful action, we continue our commitment towards reconciliation.

Today, Larissa and Shilpa attended the National Sorry Day Morning Tea at the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place

The morning provided an opportunity to come together in reflection, acknowledge the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generations, and continue listening and learning through shared stories and community connection.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside community in the spirit of reconciliation and meaningful truth-telling.

Last Friday, we enjoyed a wonderful hands-on cooking experience together! Our vegetables in the garden were ready for harvest, so we headed out to our community garden to pick fresh bok choy, beans, and silverbeet.

The children carefully harvested the vegetables, explored their textures and colours, and discussed how food grows in our garden before making its way onto our plates. Along the way, the children were excited to discover some minibeasts in the garden too, sparking lots of curiosity and conversations about nature!

After harvesting, the children helped wash and prepare the vegetables for cooking. They chopped up the bok choy and silverbeet before combining them with feta to create delicious savoury veggie scrolls.

The children were actively involved in every step of the cooking process and were so proud to enjoy their freshly baked veggie scrolls together for afternoon tea!

Today we were incredibly grateful to welcome the Lions Club to Monash Vale ELC for providing our annual free vision screening for our Pre-School children.

Early vision checks play such an important role in supporting children’s learning, development, and overall wellbeing, and we truly appreciate the time, care, and community spirit shown by the Lions Club volunteers.

Thank you for helping support our children and families through this valuable initiative!

Today we would like to acknowledge and celebrate Laura, who is marking an incredible 15 years in education and care here at Monash Vale ELC

Many of you may not know that Laura’s history with our centre began long before she became an educator she attended Monash Vale ELC as a child herself, and later returned to become part of our teaching team. What a beautiful full-circle journey

Over the years, Laura has built such meaningful relationships with the children, families, and our team. Her passion, dedication, warmth, and commitment to early childhood education have had a lasting impact on so many lives within our community.

Congratulations Laura on this amazing milestone. We are so proud of everything you have achieved and look forward to many more wonderful years to come

Our families joined us for our 2027 Kinder Information Night, hosted by our amazing team of Early Childhood Teachers. During the session, we focused on outlining our curriculum, school readiness program, learning experiences, and what families can expect as children transition into Kinder.

We are excited to share that our first round of 2027 enrolments will open from next week, before moving to our waitlist process. Thank you to all the families who attended and connected with our team!

Over the past couple of weeks, the children have been learning about Barramal (emu) and the egg cycle that occurs during the season of Manameet. Through a range of open-ended explorations, reading experiences, investigating real Barramal eggs, and learning about the life cycle of emus following our exploration into chickens, the children have deeply enjoyed engaging with and learning about Boonwurrung culture.

The children showed curiosity and wonder as they compared the similarities and differences between emu and chicken eggs, explored how emus care for their young, and discussed the important connection between animals, seasons, and Country. These experiences supported children to build respect, understanding, and appreciation for Aboriginal culture, native wildlife, and the changing seasons within our environment.
