A quick scout around Cleve / Mangalo and Gum Flat. 25 deg day saw some pretty cool sun orchids out. Some I've been trying to photograph for 4 years but never in the right spot at the right time. Azurea's in Yeldulknie CP!! Saw one about 5 years ago. Today 8. Extended the distribution for a few sun orchids today as well.

Earlier last week I spent a day at a few locations in Hinks CP. East side of the park mostly. The spiders were amazing and confusing. Some I could clearly identify while others could go one of 2 or 3 ways. So I will leave it to the experts to debate them and provide advice. Where a flower photo is proceeded by a leaf and overall plant photo, they are the same plant. For reference really. There is a lot of photos in this post so I apologise in advance. No I don't :)

A few orchids from around the district. Cleve to Darke Peak and in between. Warm day today but the sun orchids refused to open. Still a little way off. Spiders are going nuts.

Finally I get to post for the first time this year. Life has been a bit crazy of late. Here has what has happened on the eastern Eyre Peninsula so far this year. All the usual culprits leading up spring. Photos are in no particular order.

Oligochaetochilus mirabilis - Nodding rufous-hood. These little orchids are nationally endangered and only found on the eastern Eyre Peninsula. Today I found two new locations which got me very excited. Don't ask where. Sorry. Just a few plants at each. These are the last to flower orchid on the Eyre Peninsula. That's 2021 done. Bring on the late summer rains.

Last of three posts. All seen on the same day within the Stirling Ranges WA. I saw the Queen of Sheba. A wish list item for a very long time. And she didn't disappoint. I don't apologise for the multiple pictures of the different ones I saw.

Evening everyone. I've finally found some time to process a few more photos from my time in the Stirling Ranges WA. Simply stunning place, so rich in flora. All these photos were taken on the one day thanks to Terry Dunham. Thanks for your time mate. I took 400 photos this day. Bit of an orchid record for me. Dorchid !!! Anyway I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them even if the mozzies tried to cart me away.
