🌟 Celebrating Our SES Heroes! 🌟

This week, we honor our incredible State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers here in Redlands as part of SES Week, from 23rd to 30th August. The theme for this year, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the dedication and teamwork that our SES members embody every day.

💪 Thank you to our volunteers for your unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe. Your hard work, resilience, and selflessness do not go unnoticed. Whether responding to emergencies or assisting in community events, you truly make a difference!

Redland City Unit SES members are keeping their life‑saving skills sharp thanks to new Laerdal CPR manikins funded through the Redland Foundation’s Jeffrey and Geraldine Underhill Grants Program.
These training manikins provide instant feedback on CPR depth, speed and technique, helping our team stay confident, capable and ready to support the Redlands community when it matters most.

🌟 Celebrating Our Commitment to the Redlands Community 🌟

From our humble beginnings in 2011, the Redland Bay SES has transformed significantly. Starting in a two-bay shed at Weiman Creek—mosquito-infested and lacking basic amenities—we've journeyed far. Under the leadership of our first Group Leader, Gerard Williams, we faced tough challenges, including limited resources and maneuvering vehicles in tight spaces.

With the generous support of our neighbours at the RSL, we established a makeshift Emergency Operations Centre and a storage space for our first truck. The community came together, and with a second-hand shipping container, we proudly painted it SES orange during a dedicated working bee.

After a decade of relentless effort, we officially opened our new headquarters at 44 Jardine Drive on May 29, 2021. This milestone not only marks our growth but also highlights our unwavering dedication to the Redlands community.

Our volunteers have consistently stepped up during local disasters and state emergencies, responding swiftly to bushfires, floods, and storms. Whether it's providing vital support to affected communities, our members are always ready to lend a hand.

Recently, our team has assisted communities across Queensland, deploying resources and expertise wherever needed. This spirit of service embodies our commitment to being a reliable support system for those in need, reinforcing the bonds within our community and beyond.

As we continue to expand our membership, we’re proud to collaborate with our sister group on Coochie-Mudlo Island, ensuring that we provide vital services to all corners of our community.

Thank you to all our volunteers for your commitment and resilience. Together, we make a difference! 💪❤️

🧡 Did you spot the Story Bridge glowing orange? 🧡
It was lit up orange to celebrate 50 years of the Queensland State Emergency Service - five decades of volunteers stepping up when their communities need them most.

A few of our Redland City SES Unit members were honoured to be selected for a special bridge climb to mark the occasion. For many of us, it’s a landmark we cross every day, but seeing it from the top - lit in SES orange - was something truly special.

Here’s to 50 years of volunteering, dedication, teamwork, and showing up for Queenslanders through storms, floods, searches, and everything in between.
