🌟 National Volunteer Week 2026 🌟
Last week, we had the privilege of attending two incredible volunteer awards ceremonies for National Volunteer Week, celebrating the people who give so much to our community. 🧡🖤
We were deeply honoured to see Night Ninjas nominated, alongside one of our very own volunteers, Becky, who was nominated for Volunteer of the Year in both the local and QLD awards.
Becky represents everything that volunteering should be - compassionate, humble, dependable, and genuinely committed to helping others. Whether she is volunteering at night feeds, helping lead our organisation behind the scenes as a board member, preparing Easter bags for over 200 people, or creating special moments for children and families doing it tough, Becky always goes above and beyond to make people feel seen, valued, and cared for.
One beautiful example of this was when Becky quietly organised a small birthday celebration during a breakfast, complete with a cake and pink pancakes, so a child experiencing hardship could still feel celebrated on their special day. That is the kind of heart she brings to everything she does.
Becky contributes more than 60 hours every month to supporting Night Ninjas, but more importantly, she brings kindness, dignity, and humanity into every interaction. She never seeks recognition, yet her impact is felt by so many across our community.
To Becky, and to every volunteer who gives their time to support others - thank you. You are the reason organisations like Night Ninjas can continue making a difference every single week.
We are so proud of you, Becky, and so grateful for every single volunteer who stands beside us. 🧡
