MEET THE PRESENTERS | TIFFANY FITCH

Ready to step into the darker side of storytelling?

Writer and editor Tiffany Fitch is coming to INK 2026 with a workshop for students who like their stories creepy, unsettling and just a little bit terrifying.

In Into the Darkness: The Art of Horror Writing, Tiffany will explore how writers use atmosphere, suspense, setting and memorable monsters to create fear and keep readers on edge.

Students will then put those techniques into practice, experimenting with their own ideas and beginning to craft original horror writing designed to get under the reader’s skin.

For students who love horror, suspense, dark fiction — or simply want to push their creative writing in a completely new direction — this one is going to be fun.

MEET THE PRESENTERS | GRAHAM PERRETT

How can the right words influence decisions, represent communities and make a difference?
Author, former Federal MP, teacher and lawyer Graham Perrett is bringing a lifetime of experience in communication, leadership and public life to INK 2026.

In Words That Make a Difference, Graham will explore how strong writing and carefully chosen language can inform, persuade and give people a voice.

Drawing on his experiences across education, law and Parliament, Graham will show students that communication is about far more than getting words onto a page — it can shape conversations, advocate for others and create change.

A great workshop for students interested in leadership, advocacy, public speaking or becoming more confident communicators.

CHOOSE YOUR INK EXPERIENCE

One of the best things about INK? Students get to choose the workshops that appeal to them most.

When students register, they can explore the workshop options and build a festival experience around their own interests.

They might be drawn to:

📘 Imagination — creative writing, character development and story building
🎤 Narrative — poetry, spoken word, journalism and digital storytelling
🎓 Knowledge — publishing, pathways, media careers and future study

There’s no single way to experience INK. Students can choose the sessions that excite them, challenge them or help them explore where their own interests might lead.

👉 Check your email, read through the workshop information and make your selections when you register.

MEET THE PRESENTERS | DR TARA EAST

Love writing — but wonder where it could actually take you?

Award-nominated author and UniSQ Creative Writing lecturer Dr Tara East is coming to INK 2026 to help students explore the many ways a passion for words can become part of a future career.

In Earning from Your Passion for Writing, Tara will look at the different paths writers can take, from publishing and portfolio careers to further study, creative industries and other opportunities built around strong writing skills.

Students will be encouraged to think about their own strengths, interests and possibilities, and to see writing not just as something they do at school, but as something that could open doors well beyond it.

MEET THE PRESENTERS | HEATHER SMITH ✨

What happens when creativity begins by slowing down?

Public relations professional, yoga teacher, poet and creator of The Yoga Poet, Heather Smith, is bringing something completely different to INK 2026.

In Stretch Your Mind & Body, Heather will combine gentle movement, mindfulness and poetry to help students explore the connection between body, mind and creativity.

Through simple movement and reflective writing, students will have the chance to pause, experiment, think differently and discover how mindset and emotion can influence creativity, confidence and wellbeing.

It’s not your typical writing workshop — and that’s exactly the point.
