Elected in October 2023, Chris Kulczycki is a West Ward Councillor at the City of Belmont.

My top three priorities are:

🌳 A win for Belmont’s urban forest 🌳

Following the Alternative Motion I moved in December last year to strengthen the City’s approach to tree retention, Council has now introduced stronger protections for established trees on private land through Local Planning Policy No. 21 Tree Development Exemption and Assessment Policy.

It is pleasing to see this important environmental outcome recognised in PerthNow - Southern.

There was a very jovial atmosphere at this morning’s meet and greet at Wilson Park. 🤩

🌳 So many positive comments from residents regarding our capital investments to community facilities and infrastructure, lifting the area up. 🏗️

Our shared efforts on community safety was also noticed positively. 🚔

🌳 On National Tree Day, locals got involved in revegetation at Garvey Park. It was great to see the real outcomes of the last two years of planting efforts, only a hundred metres away from this year’s site 🌳

In July the City of Belmont welcomed over 180 new Australian Citizens across two ceremonies. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 It was great being part of the candidates’ special day.

At the last Ordinary Council Meeting, Council endorsed a strong environmental advocacy position to inform WALGA’s climate change advocacy work with State and Federal Governments. 📢

EVs are only one component of improving environmental outcomes for the City. As I mentioned during debate at the OCM, leadership in environmental sustainability remains a “shared responsibility” - including ensuring the transition to cleaner technologies is supported by sustainable, reliable and affordable energy generation. ⚡️
